E85 Tested (JB4 Stage 2)
Finally drove out to Fullerton and decided to put in some E85. After talking with Terry he told me to do a 20% mix which is about 3.6 gallons. I put about 3 gallons in and then topped it of with 91 octane.
I let it adapt for about 15 minutes then did some pulls and my overall reaction was that it feels like there is more torque consistently. 1st and 2nd pull hardddd (in map 1 and especially map 2) and then 3rd-5 there is still a bit of difference. I sent the data logs over to terry and he said overall it looks good, but there are a few kinks he will smooth out on the next F10 firmware update. Last edited by bb2405; 09-19-2012 at 09:37 PM.. |

how does/did it feel running just 91 octane which is going to be the case for most people. I'm just wondering now what is the best tune out there for this car that is reasonably priced?

You should talk to Terry about paying for some dyno time since you are helping him with all this testing.
Thanks for helping out the F10 community ! Alan

it's interesting that itschase states it's a big difference between stage 1 and 2, yet you've not noticed a big difference. Maybe we'll just have to wait another year for some other tuners to come up with a flash update which will produce noticeable performance gains...

It's all subjective. Just try the tune, not like it's expensive.
bb2405 - I also get the battery discharge warning but I do leave my car parked for a few days at a time so I attributed it to that. Wonder if there's a correlation? I don't want to start rumors though, would like to have others with this tune chime in. |

Strange. I wonder if the JB4 control unit draws some current even when its not on....
I will know in a few days. My JB4 is coming and will report my findings on the tune. My car has been flawless so if all of a sudden i start getting battery issues something needs to be addressed. Alan

Thanks Alan.
Later this month I should be able to give Terry my car again (assuming he has time with all the platforms he develops for simultaneously) to do Map2 testing. I will get my downpipe installed beforehand. |

hey Alan, you should try it without the boost just to see if it is noticeable diff with Stage 1. I was thinking of getting stage two but now that i hear battery issue, I think I'll wait till you guys fine tune it...

I talked to terry about the battery issue and he had me switch the map 0 and see if it occurred. Map 0 completely disables the tune and the battery discharge warning still came on. This is only happening on cold starts but it is happening almost daily which is a worry.

Never had a battery discharge issue with my Stage 2 JB4, and the car sits up to 10 days between starts.
