Traffic Report in iDrive
My 535xi, 2013 just went through 32k service where one of the items was to update iDrive software. After driving for a few days I notice that my Map no longer reports traffic conditions. I can assure it used to work prior to the update.
I went to Map screen and enabled (check mark displayed) on Traffic Receive, Traffic Flow, and other items. The Map color is Gray and shows no traffic congestion of any kind. If I try selecting Traffic List in iDrive I either get "No Traffic Messages" or "Traffic Information is Receiving" message displayed. The second message usually just hangs forever. I assume in Silicon Valley and San Francisco itself the traffic information is usually updated constantly. Has anyone else experienced the same issue and found a solution? I think I turned everything on but maybe missing something. Thanks

Had the same thing after a software update. Go back to the dealer, they need to turn on your real time traffic info. I think you are supposed to get 4yrs (from the original in service date) included in the price of the car.

Hi,
Also have the same problem after a SW update. I get color codes on roads indicating traffic, but he list of traffic messages are gone. And, it hangs saying "No Messages". Furthermore, the "Traffic Overview Map" option is no where to find anymore. Is it a bug or intentional? |

Try the following: Hit the "Option" button in the iDrive controller and go to the "Settings" tab under the "Map" Menu. Disable the "Traffic Conditions / Gray Map" box, and it should kick your map color from gray back to multi-color, with the traffic congestion icons reappearing. Mind you, I'm referencing a 2011 nav system running on a 2014 map update, but I think the menus and sequence should be the same on your newer vehicle...

Did that before with no success. Major freeways are always colored Yellow and minor roads are Red. I did talk to to SA and he mentioned that I need to bring the car to the shop for this feature to be enabled. I am still questioning why was it disabled in the first place when the update performed.
