New Tire Recommendation

Hello F10 drivers,

I have about 23k miles on my Bridgestone Turanzas ER300s. So far so good but I need to replace them in about 2-3k more miles max. Based on performance ratings etc, they lasted great on my m sport and still quite enough.

My question to you is that tirerack brings up replacements a bit less expensive such as Pirelli PZeros, Bridgestone RE50s, Michelin Primacy, Dunlop Sport Maxx
Good Year Excellence

Do you have one of these sets you currently recommend over my Bridgestone Turanzas? I am thinking about Pirellis due to lowest cost and also what BMW is providing through dealer but I wanted to check with you. Thanks.

I have exactly the same question. I have already decided I am ditching the run flats.

I too have a 2014 5 Series and got about 27k miles out of those same tires.

I commute all the time on the freeway and I am sick of the run flats. I miss how the BMW's drove before they switched to run flats.

I'm considering just one value higher on the profile, so 245/45-19 front (vs 40 profile OEM) and 275/40-19 rear (vs 35 profile OEM).
Also, Has anyone run wider tires on the M Sport wheels?. 285-295

Tires Possibly Considering

Bridgestone POTENZA S-04 POLE POSITION

Continental EXTREMECONTACT DW

Bridgestone POTENZA RE760 SPORT

Bridgestone POTENZA RE970AS POLE POSITION

Any thoughts appreciated by those who have ditched their run flatts.

Although I would think 285s or even better 295s would look cool and better handle, that is M5 territory sizes. I'm not sure wheel width would allow those sizes.

Most of the BMW forum members have 19" or 20" wheels. The light 19" are great for track use, the bigger 20" are heavier but better looking. Some enthusiasts put 21" wheels but maybe it's too heavy and much.

The classic upgrade with 20" aftermarket wheels has the following specifications:
F 20x8.5 R 20x10, tires 245/35 and 285/30,
F 20x9 R 20x10.5, tires 255/35 and 295/30.

Offsets can be ordered different because of personal view on aestetics. Also the wider rims can get the smaller tires for stretch sitting to allow extra aggressive offsets. Top vendors have their own table of cpecs including offsets

As for the tire brands, this is totally up to particular taste and budget. The most popular is Michelin Pilot Super Sport, but there is no rule, really.

A year ago I have made price analysis of 12 tire brands with parameters 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 (based on local market price). This screenshot is just to illustrate how the price is so much linked to the brand, probably not to the real value:
