Went to the dealer approximately a month ago for service to the fronts and both rotors were resurfaced. No issues so far on my 2014 550i with 42K miles.

I had my front rotors resurfaced and new front brake pads installed by the BMW dealer just two months ago. I had some pulsating in my brake pedal when braking. Took care of the problem.

I don't think there is any reason that you can't resurface the rotors. In fact, there should be a minimum spec for the thickness of the rotor stamped toward the center.

Speaking of resurfacing, I had some pedal pulsating and "hissy" brake sound when freewheeling although the pads/rotors were 15k mi from worn. The dealer diagnosed rusty rotors but my regular SA was out and the sub SA said too bad so sad not covered by warranty. Took the car back when my SA returned and she got front rotors resurfaced no charge and issue was gone.

BMW is now resurfacing rotors instead of replacing them. They've issued a tool that resurfaces the rotor while it's still on the vehicle.
