Say you changed some coding things and something comes up with your car and you want to change back tomfactory coding after installing the usb stick. Is there a way to reset the codes to factory settings without bmw knowing it has been altered?
Thanks! |

I cannot speak for usb method, but VO coding with actual OBD2 cable and your computer will reset any coding back to factory values. $20 for cable and you can code everything you want and set back as needed.

BMW is more likely to reset car to factory settings or "accidentally" wipe your coding during necessary software updates than spend time and resources to forensically look through vehicle files of a every car that is in for regular maintenance without any major complaints. |

How did it go? Has it worked? Curious as I am entertaining this as well instead of spending the time to code myself. Thanks!

I used a small external hard drive I had spare. Some newer usb sticks don't work for some reason. I tried a new sub 3.0 stick and the car didn't recognise it.

I used this on my F10 today and did a whole raft of changes including Enhanced Bluetooth, took me less than 15 minutes including the 10 minutes wait between shut down and reboot. It's very simple and saved me a lot of time and messing so thanks and well done Bimmertech.
