hi all, just curious....can you guys feedback where are all these failing Dunlop RFTs tyres manufactured in? usually this is stamped at the sidewall...I have heard that some are made in China, some made in Hungary, some made in Germany. Anyone can confirm this?

Which all season non-RFT tires would you recommend or have used before that offer good ride comfort and performance? I was considering the Michellin Pilot Sport A/S Plus..Would appreciate all feedback. These will be fitted on an '11 550xi with M-package.

Angry Bad Tire

I am on my second front tire. The first was free because of the goodyear warranty. I found the other one today and talked to a different manager at the GY store and he's giving me the run around. I am within the limits for the GY warranty so I am gonna raise hell with em. The warranty brochure on your CD for the tires is the same one you can get off Tire Rack. this tire is much worse than the first one, the bubble is split on this one and i can see the broken cords. If this keeps up I am going back to a 3 series.

Tire/Wheel change

Has anyone tried to switch back to the 18's? I could live with a little less handling prowess to have a car i could drive somewhere and not worry about fragging another tire. Goodyear just told me they do not have any of the Goodyear's in stock anywhere.

I'm going to take the car back to the dealership tomorrow and see if there's anything that could be done other than charge me $400 again for this crap.
My tire is Goodyear Eagle LS2.
Does anyone have similar experience?
Have the 550i GT. The 20" front tires are a problem waiting to happen. Have replace the fronts twice due to pot holes and the car only has 8K miles on it. This car is a dream and we love it, but are going to get rid of it due to constant tire problems. We have the Pirelli tires and they don't hold up any better. Think BMW made a design mistake on this!

For all of you running non RFT tires- what are you doing about a spare? AFAIK there is no spare tire space in the trunk is there? Or are you just winging it?

It's not just the Dunlop’s; it’s the Goodyear Excellence tires also. I am averaging a tire every 2k. On a side note my GY dealer let it slip that Dunlop’s are basically GY tires. does anyone know if the Michelin Primacies hold up any better?

Same issue; I am station Germany; and while getting my car ready to be sent to the states for my next duty station I notice that my front right tire had a bubble. I took the car to the BMW in Landstuhl and they got the OK from BMW to replace the tire; my car sit three days before the tire came in from BMW.

just got new 535i with RFT and dealer sold me insruance protection with total cost of $2000 for 3 year lease protection. Cost of $65 P/M. Seems from the posts that there could be real problem as live in NYC and experience the potholes. However, if you consider cost of insurance vs cost of tire replacement, seems I would have to blow through 3+ tires to make the coverage worthwhile over 3 year lease term. I am considering canceling the insurance as it may just be too expensive even tho I would otherwise like the coverage. Any advice would be welcome.

That sounds very high for the insurance for 3 years based on other posts and my quotes in March of this year. Search around,

You don't say which brand of tires and size you have on your car? unless we assume the same as the OP...
Seems most of the problems are the 19" sport package Goodyear RFT. Very few folks with 18" of any brand seem to be posting issues.
