IPOD and IPHONE USB Question can you help?
IPod does not show up in the IDrive. Been playing up and loosing connection and now does not show up.
IPhone 4 when plugged in will not show up and I get a pulsing connection noise, as if the phone is getting plugged in and unplugged rapidly. Goes mad. Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding.. ok you get the picture... BUT. When I plug in the IPHONE to a MINI USB - it works fine. So does the IPOD. AND When I plug in an IPhone 6 to my F10 it works. Is it ... A. IPOD is 10 years old - get a new one jesus. B. Put your music on a USB Stick C. This is a BMW support issue they no longer support this. Thanks for help Howard AKA HR IN A CAR https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh3...czmlAg6yjqilFA |

Are you using an Apple certified cable when you plug in your phone or iPod?
I bought a cheap cable to use in my car and had the same problem with a message saying that device is not supported. Once I paid up an got an Apple cable, the problem went away.

I start with the cable, I got the same when I went for the small cable, but went back to my Apple certified one for my Ipod classic.
If your ipod was updated lately make sure your car too, you can download the new version on line with your vin number, but not fully sure if the issue you describing is version related. |

Our 2013 535I does not support a gen 1 ipod, but it does support a nano, and my ihpone 6. I'm using the BMW issue cable that the dealer gave my wife for the gen 1 ipod.
You can play it through the audio aux input, but it will not charge or show screen interface. BMW should be embarrassed how badly their IT sucks. |

I agree with you on this, not only they suck but they constantly changing the systems thinking they on top of it, to find out not at all, a perfect pain in back side.

The fact the error is random like losing connection, to me looks like a part is at fault, hence maybe the cable the easy one to check and was the problem with my classic ipod, if not your 1st option should be BMW but not sure how helpful when down to iPod, they tend to blame the iPod software by default.

First Step...run the free software updates at www.bmw.com/update. That way, you have eliminated one possibility right away.
I upgraded mine tonight to see if I can improve functionality with my wife's cellphone. Waiting now to test it on the road. Tasmanian Quote:
