Need help installing BMS N63TU tune on my 14 550i

Has anybody installed the N63TU BMS tune on the 14 550i?

It seems pretty simple from what others are saying, just wanted to hear some exact installation instructions.

Thanks!

Mine ran $599. The installation instructions are pretty straight forward. The only thing they don't cover is how to remove the engine cover. But I had read how to do it elsewhere. It just pulls right off, no need to remove any screws. Once you do that, the MAF plugs are visible. You can then follows the steps provided by BMS. The engine cover snaps back on.

Eli - would love to hear about your experience once you get through it... maybe some pictures of the process if you can!

I've thought about it, but I'm really not sure I need any more power... I know, who says that? I recall the process was quite in-depth (at least from the BMS video) for the N54 335 (my previous car)... kept me from doing it, honestly, since you had to pull apart quite a few wires to stick it in the ECU. Granted, it probably would only take 10 - 15 minutes for someone who knew what they were doing, but it was more complicated than I cared to get into at the time.

I believe it's supposed to add about 60HP for the N63TU?

N63TU looks to be super easy. Pull the top off, connect to each MAF sensor, put top back on. Looks like it should take about 4 minutes if you take your time.

Seriously looking to pull the trigger on these.

Wow! I'm going to take a look to see what the instructions look like. If it's that simple, I may seriously consider it. I really don't think I *need* more power - most of the time I can't find a way to use what I've got - but for $600, it's hard to turn down the extra boost.

Just looked at the install instructions... and wow, it couldn't get any simpler. This is WAY easier than any of the previous JB tunes. Looks like the N63TU just requires literally two boxes to be plugged-in under the engine cover. Now this may become a bit tempting.

Eli - go to the BMS website, look up the N63/N63Tu product. On the product page there's a big graphic that's a link to their install guide. You can scroll to almost the end of the guide to see the N63Tu instructions - the majority of the guide before that covers the N63/S63/S63Tu engines... all much more involved.

The N63Tu install looks literally like... (a) pull the engine cover off, (b) plug the left JB box in, (c) plug the right JB box in, (d) enjoy!

It looks like the whole thing should take less than a few minutes. The previous installs I've seen (such as the N54) were fairly involved... literally pulling out a bunch of stuff from the engine bay to get to the ECU box, and then half a dozen connectors being rewired in there. Still not amazingly complex, but clearly those installations would take 30 minutes or so and some more tedious (and careful) work. The N63Tu install looks to be simple enough that a novice should be OK with it (myself included!).

Looks like they say to only adjust the dial upwards if you have either other aftermarket hardware or are using race gas... ?

Do you know what the OOTB boost is? The site's marketing says "up to 60whp" for the N63Tu... presumably this is under the highest setting? Would be nice to have more info, but I can't find much more on the BMS site.

Looks like the default setting is 11 o'clock from what I can see. Do these setting correlate to PSI in additional boost? Any documentation on it?

My experience is every time the dial goes up I saw an increase of 20whp and 20wtrq on a dyno jet.
My 12 o clock setting netted me 480/540. .. Do the math if I crank that all the way!

What octane are you running and do you have any other engine mods?

I'm wondering how long until you'll need new turbos though? This needs to be seriously pushing the PSI of turbo boost.
