Drivetrain issues

I sent the car in after having had the drivetrain fault error pop up 3 times within the first month of owning the car.

I've been told it's going to take 3 MONTHS! to get the car fixed as it's in need of some software that's not available until August!!

I've got a z4 until Thursday. It handles decently and is nice to rev out but god is it uncomfortable. As a daily driver it's pretty hateful, I've had it since Monday and the whole car jolts and bashes at the mere sight of a disturbance in the road. Driving it on the motorway, there's so much wind noise and bumping in the suspension and creaks and so on, it's just an absolute chore.

I don't like it very much. It seems to drink petrol for fun, averaging 18.3 mpg and it's only a 20i sdrive version.

Also, seeing that the 5 series is my family car, it's not very good for towing family around as you can only ferry children one at a time. No space in the boot for things either.

Next Monday I'm getting a brand new 520d msport touring, however it will come without any options apparently which is a damn shame as I love to listen to music and thoroughly enjoy the sysem in my car, which the F11 supposedly won't come with. Also no oyster leather, black leather instead

I'm not too happy to be honest with the whole situation. I think the right thing for BMW to do would be to allow me to swap for an equivalent car and let me enjoy my own car seeing as the first one they gave me broke within a couple of weeks.

What year and model is involved? Are all other such cars affected? If not, one has to wonder what "software" issue is unique to your car.

It's apparently "an individual case". My car is an F10 520D 2 litre diesel automatic and it's a month old.

I'm not understanding how it can be an "individual case" requiring some not yet developed software.

Is this a brand new car or a CPO or a used car?

Something is not adding up...

How do they know it will be fixed in 3 months time? Surely the dealer is offering a new replacement for such a failure.

What are BMW UK saying?

I haven't heard from BMW UK as I'm going through the dealer at the moment. They have sorted a car for me for the 3 months I will be without mine but I want to push to reject the car or swap for a new one.

They don't actually know for sure, but the BMW UK tech department have said that a software update coming out in Late July/August may possibly fix the problem from what I gather.

Brand New car, I picked it up on the 31st of March 2014.

I don't understand either, as HighlandPete says, something doesn't really add up here.

No question then - push for a replacement ASAP.
