When are you getting stage 2 installed? Can't wait to hear what you think about it.

Just order the n55 jb4 stage 2 and email them afterwards that it is for a F10.

Disregard the website about it not being available for our cars. They didn't update it yet.

Is dyno tuning required for this? Does it come with valet mode?

Looks promising.

Dyno tuning isn't needed nor is it possible with the JB4 for the F10. Not sure if the JB4 has valet mode or not but even if it is you can't change maps without your laptop at the moment for our cars. It maybe available once Terry gets the map switching function to work through our dash but that's later on.

Remember guys this isn't a full tune where it reprograms your existing software (think Dinan, Cobb, GIAC). What all JB tunes do is intercept various sensors throughout the motor as well as a minimal part of your ECU and alters its signal to basically trick your ecu to run more boost to achieve more power. Our motors adjusts boost based on conditions it is seeing. Bmw designed the car to make 300HP in the middle of winter, during a 100 degree summer day, in a city that has a elevation of 8K feet above sea level regardless so the ecu has the ability to raise/lower boost pressure based on various readings. This is why devices like the JB4 can easily up the boost in our cars to make more power since it changes what the ecu is seeing. Basically the ecu thinks it needs more boost to achieve 300hp when in fact you are really making much more with the JB. There is a huge debate on the N54 side about this method so i won't go there (search if you really want to learn more) but there are tons of guys running this on the 335 board without any issues so I personally would say it is safe enough for our cars. Is it the best solution? No but it is the ONLY solution for more power now aside from the $1300 Hartge tune which i suspect does the same thing and JB products have had a pretty good track record and excellent customer service.

I am also going with this tune for my F10 once I get the car and break it in. Once Cobb comes out with F10 support i will switch over to that but i don't see that happening anytime soon. Their main focus is on the E9X N55 guys and the new F30.

That was a great explanation Alan. Think you'll go crazy with meth and DP's on your F10 eventually?

Just a small update on my tune. Approx 600 miles on it now and not a hiccup. The car is fully adapted and when flooring it from a stop or in lower gears I really feel a difference. I think it's really hard for us N54 guys to fairly judge this tune because the 400(ish)rwhp my E92 puts down is dramatic, and this 5er feels quite sane. I can say that I am glad I had a chance to put close to 5K miles on my F10 before tuning it so I had a baseline feel to compare it to.

I don't know how my car stacks up against others but 2 nights ago I was driving up PCH through Malibu and a new AMG E-Class was beside me at a red light. His lane ended after the intersection so he floored it at the green. I knew I had zero chance but decided to give him a run, and he didn't get more than a car length on me through 1st gear. I backed off after that because I like my insurance rates. This week my plan is to run out the tank and finally try the 100 octane/map2 combo.

what I would like to know is if it's a noticeable difference between stage 1 and stage 2? It sounded like you did not have stage 1 installed since you noted you ran the car for 5K without any tunes? I'm also curious to see what bb2405 has to say about it once he has it installed since he's migrating from Stage 1 to 2.

Btw, off the line take off is the one thing I dislike the most in this car (and did not feel like stage 1 helped). I feel like it literally takes about 1 or 2 seconds before the car actually takes off...

Chase: have you thought about running 91/e85 mix?

I'll let you guys know what I think of the tune as soon as I get it.

I did have stage1 first, but only for about one week.

To get a safe mixture of E85, I will go to the station with a 3/4 full tank and fill the rest with E85. Give it a good 50 miles of driving to make sure it has a chance to mix with the 91 and get down the fuel line, then switch to map2. It's a little more than 20% - should be fine. Time to google where to find this stuff.

Let me know how your car goes with e85. Have you got a dp in your car yet?

My JB3 has been collecting dust in my garage for 3 months now; no time to install... and I just paid to upgrade to JB4. LOL. Can't wait to FINALLY get this all installed!

Has anyone installed the jb4 on their own? Mine arrived and it involves pulling apart stock wires and such. I'm sort of worried to dive into this without a professional at hand.

Day three on going from stage 1 to 2. I like it a lot. Definitely took some time to adapt, and as Terry told me on email doesn't kick in till engine temp is above 160 F. The first day even when over 160 F didn't feel like much (in fact less than the Stage1). Second day I was really impressed. Throttle response is definitely better in Normal mode, and Sport is a ton of fun.

Install took about 45 minutes, definitely takes some time. But guessing it will be easy if I have to do it again. One note, not quite sure yet what I'm going to do when going in for service as this is a bit more of a permanent install.

Last thing, not sure if the other guys have noticed this but my sunroof lost all of it's auto open/close functions after disconnecting the battery. (sunroof still works but you have to press and hold the buttons). Looked in the manual and it says you need to get the sunroof function reset. However found this great video from Bentley manuals and though it's for the E60 it's relatively similar to our. Did this process and my sunroof one-touch is working fine again. Thought I'd share:
