I agree the difference is quite noticeable. For readers that wonder what the Stage 1 JB4 tune is like, I can tell you it's well worth it, slightly easier install, (no extra wires around the ECU) and it runs seamlessly. My seat-of-the-pants evaluation is that: it's very impactful despite not being overly aggressive. There have been no issues and I've run it for over a month on 91 Octane. The biggest difference are:

1) more torque so that a modest use of the gas pedal, particularly at highway speeds gets you moving ;

2) from a start you really notice the pulling power even when not at WOT; and

3) the sensation of a "flat spot" is lessened as the car moves into taller gears.

Well, I got my baby back after having the "global update" performed and I must say there is big difference in how she runs. The hesitation is gone (responds like the JB3 does) when in non-sport mode and she seems to have more spring in her step. I'm going to run her JB3 free for a few days just to get the "real" feel of her running bareback again. I was depressed last week before the global update as she was a bit sluggish and hesitated at times (especially when compared to having the JB3 on her). It will be interstiing to see/feel the difference when I slip the JB3 back on her. But I must say guys, the update does make her feel better. I know some have complained that right after the update the hesitation, etc. was gone but after time it has reappeared. I won't go too long before I put the JB3 back on so I doubt I'll experience the return of the hesitation (if indeed it were to return).

Glad to hear the car is back better than ever after the update.

I'm pretty sure none of us bought these cars for drag strip use but has anyone done a quarter mile with Stage 2?

yes i bought the jb4 for my car with **********s. They have a black friday sale and it brings down the cost. It works fine. No issues here. Looking at your production date, i believe its harness A that you need to purchase. I went directly to stage 2 and skipped stage 1.

Sweet. It's a good thing I held back and waited then. Any idea when the black friday sale will start?

Btw, on their official site, they have four options for the harness: Harness A, Harness B, f10 Type A, F10 Type B. Does **********s distinguish between an f10 and any other car?

Also, I heard you can program it so it switches maps when you switch between regular transmission and sport/sport+ (gets more aggresive from regular to Sport+).

They have the sale going on now. If you have the build date of 2010, you will need harness A. Call Frank at **********s he will give you the best price. With the stage 2 you will be able to program and change maps. I will mess around with that later this weekend.

I didnt do that. You can buy stage 2 without buying stage 1. If you have stage 1 you can buy the upgrade to get stage 2.

It is not as customize-able for the f10 as it is for 335 N55. You don't get the dashboard/wheel controls. You can only customize it through a computer. Not enough f10 N55's are using this, so they are not devoting time to developing for the f10. So it is up to us to "convince" them to develop the f10 firmware further.

Yes, i have the same response from Terry..... and the instructions aren't that great if you ask me. I ordered the JB4 stage 2 yesterday for my F10 535i we'll see...

For clarification. I emailed Jeff at Burger Tuning last week and he verified that Stage 1 will need to be purchased in addition to the stage 2 upgrade if you want to run stage 2 right away. There is also a USB datalogging cable specific to the device in order to get updates, map changes, etc for $35. Its $599 total for the Stage 1, stage 2 upgrade and the USB cable. The Stage 1 has specific wires to install the device before stage 2 can be wired in.
I have 9/10 production date, so I will be using harness A for my 2011 535. I believe both stages will still need to be purchased for newer models as well.
