520i and the auto start stop function
I test drived 520i
The auto start stop function seems to be very annoying, and whenever the engine is off and on, the vibration is pretty noticeable. I feels odd and feels like a stall. Can I defaults the auto start stop function to be off? I don't want to be forced to turn it off manually every time I start the car. Other than the auto start stop function, I am really satisfied with the car. And to all 520i owner, are you happy with the car? |

Yep no default to OFF for the start-stop function. And I am still happy with my 520i even though didn't drive it for a long time because of latest long leave

I thought it was a pain to start with but you soon get used to it. I automatically turn it off when I press the start button and don't give it a second thought!

I have a 535 and I dont feel anything on stop/start....I recently had my idrive programmed and to put it to off was an option which I declined because I like having it on (gas expensive ). Maybe you can hit up Alex@alpine, he did the programming for me, maybe he has a way to put it on a disc and send it out to you guys.

After I took my car in late May 2012, I found my 528 has the same problem to you, that is vibration for start/stop during the journey is more obvious than start/stop at P position. My complaint is vibration level when start/stop at P position should be the same vibration level when start/stop during the journey. I brought the car back to BMW and they said such virabation is normal. |

I had mine re-coded by BMW Australia and now it remains OFF when I started the car. Just ask the dealer in HK and see if they could do the same. Its free of charge.

It's definitely need time in getting used to it....one thing worries me is that when the engine shut down cause the auto start/stop, doesn't the audio and the air conditioning eating up the battery juice?
