Christmas lights - dash
Hey all!!
Recently, my 2011 535, has been hesitating at times to start. Today, she started just fine but threw a bunch of codes. Lost power steering but drives fine otherwise. Attached is an image. Help! Anyone go through something similar? Your feedback is appreciated. |

Yowzer, that doesn't look festive! It could be as simple as an ABS sensor, but you need to pull the actual codes for what's happening. You need a Foxwell, ProTools, or ISTA/INPA to get them properly. A cheap generic reader might give you some ideas though, so start with that? My hunch is that it isn't catastrophic, but that's just a guess over the internet

Before replacing parts, an easy verification of your battery and charging system should be done...it's easy and free (with a Digital Multimeter or your local automotive store should be able to run a test on your battery)...and if you find that your battery is on your last leg, I highly recommend a BMW branded battery. If you go with a non-bmw branded batter, make sure it's an AGM...and regardless of the brand you put in, make sure you register it.
If end up having to dig into your codes, do yourself a favor and reset your codes, and let the primary codes come back....and chase only primary codes. Last edited by M_Bimmer; 08-22-2023 at 09:01 PM.. |
