Honestly, I'm not slammin' anyone who enjoys buying a luxury performance sedan and spending their own hard earned cash modding it as they see fit to make it go faster. Should be "good, clean fun". But man do some people take this seriously. It's not fun anymore when the attacks become personal.
Maybe if you just wanted to go really, really fast you should have considered a GT-R? |

Your "data" shows that BMS is more capable than Dinan. Did we not establish this on the N54 platform some 6 years ago? Nothing ground breaking here. Sorry to break it to you, but no ones buying an F10 550xi to go drag racing with. Most will still go with Dinan's tune for "warranty" purposes.

it's really whoever has the best marketing wins. charging a lot for something can be a marketing technique as well. dinan is grossly overpriced and anyone that doesn't agree with that can be classified as blind. btw, bms and other tunes don't void your warranty. that's just another sales trick they use. i'm not in any club but i hope i don't get kicked out of said club for expressing my views.

lets just call it like it is...if you want to spend a boatload of money to tune your car by all means go with dinan..if you want to get comparable performance and still have 9k left over to do wheels, suspension, exhaust and some cosmetics go with bms....and warranty my ass it takes 10 minutes to disconnect and reinstall the bms tune and the dealer would never know it was there...

back to the real subject of this thread...
I got the P3 boost gauge today and installed it to find that my Dinan Stage 4 is boosting 10 PSI normally with a small spike to 12.5 PSI. Now if this doesn't prove that the tune isn't installed in my car then I don't know what will. I called Dinan and Dan told me that the car boosts 10 PSI stock and Stage 4 should be up to 15 PSI. We will see...... Going to dealer for re-install next week and then I will report what the car is boosting then. |

Ahhh, is the 12.5 right near redline? I'm seeing about the same exact peak boost as you per my logs: 10.x PSI in the 4000 RPM, range, 11.x PSI in the 5000 RPM range, then peaking at 12.5-13 above 6000 RPM. When the throttle closes for a shift, it will spike higher, but this is not real boost. Not sure if your boost gauge shows that or not. Anyway, I emailed Dan at Dinan and he said mine was correct () for stage 2, but higher stages would show more boost... If he told you 15, I still think ~14 would be right for me, unless they have changed the parameters for newer cars. I'm working on a time to schedule re-install for my Stage 2. Good luck and please keep us posted. |

In regard to the boost when shifting, I only had boost gauge for a few hours but I will let you know more when I take the car out this weekend. |

What a joke
I thought the BMS tune wouldn't show on the P3 boost gauge. Well, I was wrong. I removed the BMS tune and now the car is boosting only 10.2 PSI, STOCK BOOST. This totally gets me so pissed because now I know the Dinan tune was not installed properly.

Dinan should include a boost gauge for $500 when they do a tune for $10,000. It's not like I would say no to the extra $500 when I just spent $10k. Dinan should be better than this. |
