The European stock comes staggered.

It's not a bad idea at all, it's has to do of how the factory calibrate the main computer on the car destined for US. I have not see any compliants on the forum about problems going staggered. If your car's computer is way too sensitive of such deviation, it may cause problems with your ABS, Dynamic Traction Control to function abnormally.

Therefore, if you do further searches in this & other forums, people have done the switch.

No problems with my 20x9 and 20x10 setup on my xdrive. Just make sure you get the right tire sizes so that the overall diameter of the front and rear wheels match up as close as possible. People have been staggering Xdrive cars on the E9X platform for years without issues.

Yep. As long as the rotational diameter of the tires are the same, your BMW will be fine, just fine. If it's not. You're gonna have a bad time.

Your problem with your first set is you had the wrong tire size up front with a different rolling diameter compared to your rear setup. If the rolling diameter is the same the car won't know or care if the wheels are staggered or not.

Very correct. CEWONE your issue was due to incorrect tire sizing. You can absolutely run staggered wheels on an XI setup. BMW puts staggered wheels on their XI cars from the factory (depending on package). The circumference of the tire is the key.

+1
I went with staggered set up on my xdrive. No problems so far!
