antiroll bars and droplinks f11 535d

so after having a strut bar fitted to my 535d which was OKish i turned my attention to having an anti-roll bar fitted , so i bought a pair of H&R anti-roll bars and took it in to be fitted now the BMW man tells me that the rear will not fit and that i will need shorter drop links.
my issues are
1) is there someone here fitted anything like this onto their F11
2) can you get shortened drop links or adjustable drop links for the F11?
3) if you fit only the front anti-roll bar what would you loose in terms of driving dynamics?

any help is very appreciated

thanks

Yes i have fitted drop links to my f11, they came with the H&R 35mm spring kit.
Very simple design they work by tricking the rear load sensor, and if memory serves me right someone on here used to make far superior ones to the H&R versions for around 40quid delivered, i know he made them originally for the e61 but they will also fit the f11, sorry though not much help as cant remember his name.

H&R may just supply you them though without having to order springs.

As for handling huge difference to stiffened up front end, but honestly didnt notice a whole lot of change to the rear.

Just google f11 or e61 droplinks though for more info. Easy enough job to fit once you have them

Best of luck.

From experience with other cars if you stiffen front roll stiffness on it's own you will likely create more under steer.

If you do just the rear you'll likely make turn in feel sharper and reduce under steer.

Were it me I'd leave the front alone.

Good luck

thanks dieselflash and suffolkian,
there is another thread on here where lots of f10's have had CP bars and M5 bars applied and they have raved about it.
Diesel Flash you said you had done the mods with a lowered spring . could you be more specific , i couldnt find the shortened droplink anwhere except on CA int site . any more details ?

SuffolkIan thank you for your thoughts I have stiffened an E92 before and it went from good handling to mind blowing , I have to say that tightening the cars chassis is pound for pound the most effective way of cornering and handling flat, short of coil overs and the attendant cost.

many thanks

Hi dockishen, i found some pics of said drop links and even found original e61 post on the guy who made the uprated ones, whether he still does is anyones quess??

Tried having a look online for you, and although you can source drop/lowering links on there own, usually for the x5 or audi a8, i cannot see any specific ones for f11, other than the ones from the H&R spring kit??
Again like the e61 these others will work but may need slight tweaking, the priciple behind them is so simple, just make the original ones shorter and back end will go lower.

Are those not actually level sensor link bars?

I would have thought the mechanic was talking about the drop links that tie the ends of the ARB to the rest of the suspension.

There would be no reason to go near the level sensor link bar just to change the rear ARB. The link bar is only needed if you lower the car with shorter springs and don't want to re-code the level control, hence why H&R supply them with shorter springs.

Ha maybe a case of crossed wires me thinks, i myself was thinking you probably dont want to drop the rear without getting the front done first..

hi guys,
the front ARB is fantastic i have also have the m-sport rear ARB

the measurements are 30mm front H&R
and 18mm rear M-sport ( the SE is 16 mm )

so i have had a look at the springs and shortened drop links a little more clarity i have pictures
the blue in the picture is the Rear antiroll bar and the black is the anti roll bar .

the bend is the reason i needed to put in the shortened drop links .
i had to buy the set and have put the rear ARB on eBay

hope this clarifies the reason i was asking
