Nice... I’m still stuck between the 2. I was told by a few people that BM3 is better. Has more power and runs smoother.

I had the jb4 on my n55 and recently switched to bm3. The two are worlds apart...bm3 is superior to jb4, from smoothness, power, ease of customization, as well as install...there's no comparison. They came out with customization sliders for the OTS maps, so you can control things like cold start on/off, cold start rpm, disable cat readiness which keep the CEL off, and a ton of other features. Now that bm3 can be flashed via obd2, I regret stepping into the jb4 world. Sold it on ebay a few weeks ago

Got a 14 f10 535i with jb4, Er charge pipe, er dp, bms intake haven't run it on the dyno but in sport on stage 2 you can definitely feel the difference. I've been told if you want to make real hp to step into bm3 I'm leaning to bm3 once I upgrade the turbo and inter cooler.

Compromised piggyback solutions like the JB4 are no longer needed and definitely not good options. MHD and Bootmod3 flash tunes are the way to go. I prefer MHD.

I run both together. BM3 works very well, but I use the JB4 for PI and boost control. I am seriously considering switching away from the JB4, but will need tuning help to dial in an alternative PI controller. I also want to run Meth to cool air since I am in AZ and we are already over 100 degrees daily.

ECU FLASH TUNE vs JB4 is like comparing apples and oranges. You will get sooooo much more performance out of a ecu remap. I have an f10 n55 and have had both. ECU FLASH is the way to go 100%. Its a No Brainer

Bootmod3 is the best. I have had JB4 2, Mission Performance Stage 2.

Got the BM3 and I’m loving it. Feels like a whole new car. It’s very smooth and no lag. Now time for a charge pipe, down pipes, intercooler, and intake. I’ll also be adding Jb4 as a piggyback.

Why are you adding jb4 when you already flashed your Ecu with bm3
What are the benefits of that ?

The more i learn, i have to agree with you. ECU remap is most likely the way to go. the JB4 seems to top out at 330-350whp range. I am considering flashing my ECU, just need to find a reputable tuner to do so. Oh yeah, and the budget to do it lol.

From what I was told by the tuner it adds boost control and the ability to gain even more hp

Boost control. Flashes are at the limits of the dme. If you go big time and want to raise the boost further than the dme allows, even after a flash...you'll need something that tricks the dme into thinking it hasn't passed the limit associated with the dme boost settings.

Finally flashed BM3 last night after almost 3 weeks of trying. I'm going to make a thread about it but I had a ton of issues (none of them had to do with BM3). My cars' software was outdated (2012 MY), my macbook wouldn't connect to the OBD, borrowed a laptop, wouldn't connect, finally I went and bought a new $250 laptop at walmart and everything went well. I also had to get a coder to remote into my laptop and update my DME.

All that being said, the tune is beautiful. The power delivery is very smooth, 6th feels like 4th on the highway. I did a 91 oct Stage 2 flash. Burbles are nice but I thought they'd be louder in Sport mode. I have the slider at 6, I'm going to see how 7 sounds.

One issue I did have - I attempted to flash the Stage 2 AGG tune (aggressive) and I had mulitiple drivetrain malfunctions. I actually got pretty worried as the online recode didn't work either. I went back to the Stage 2 (non AGG) tune and I'm all good. I read somewhere that it's only for M cars but the F30 335i guys have it...

when you update maps to more aggressive maps please be aware your car has to be tip top. Sparkplugs cant be past the desired changing points, coil packs cant be 60k plus, etc.

Yea. Just did a full overhaul a few weeks back, replaced all the gaskets, plugs, etc.

I'm happy with the standard Stage 2 flash, but now my wastegate rattle is really bad. It rattles terribly right at my cruising rpm.

The BM3 Stage 2 Aggressive just means Agressive Burbles. And make sure u let instrument cluster go to sleep before u start the car after a flash. Otherwise u will get a bunch of codes.

Yea I tried twice with no luck. Non AGG tune works great. I’ll mess around with it some more today.
