I got this warning showing in the idrive and a red brake light on the dash. Do I need to change my pads now or is there an actual brake pad sensor light that will turn on like in older BMW?

See the one on the second picture above temp, in red that says brake?
That is your light, now is the time.

If you received that message your car already tripped the brake pad sensor, get it done asap.

Now unless your planning on replacing your sensor when it gets low enough to damage it as well.

I got that warning whilst on a trip. I went to the nearest dealer (Monterey) and had them check it out. Turned out to be a false warning as they said I had of pad left. If it matters, I had just used the parking brake a lot.
