Oh looky there...nomally aspirated American pushrod V8 takes home the win.

So much for the haters and their old inferior technology BS.

So this was the N57N with a single turbo.
Not the N57Z with two turbos or the N57X with three turbos?

Correct. The latter two are not available in the US.

By the way, the tri-turbo Version is called the N57S.

That argument always cracks me up considering OHC engines predate pushrods by several decades. Which one is the older tech again?

Not exactly the same engine, but didn't they have an e90 335d offering in the US before ... and no one bought it? They would be stupid to do that again. 328d and 320d, maybe.

This was the older M57 engine that was nearing the end of its life and not offering significant enough fuel efficiency advantages over similarly powered gasoline engines to justify its premium (for many people, anyway).

Indeed it would not make sense to use the M57, however the N57 that is the topic of this thread, as found in the F10 and F15, could be compelling in the F30. But only if they were to call it a 330d and price it below a 335i as it is in the ROW. It would likely not do well as the flagship 335d.

By the way, we already have a 328d in case you were not aware. It uses the N47 4 cylinder as found in the ROW 320d. Apparently Ward's felt the GM diesel was more deserving, probably due to the pricepoint - at which it is more powerful than the VAG offering.

Thats the achilles tendon for these cars, the twin trubo I6 is an amazing engine that has been in production for over 13 years amd modiffied accordingly the're guys in Europe already running over 200k on them, I hv one and trust me the only regret I have is that i did not ordered M

U would bet you $100 that its not the DPF or urea system that is the achilles. EGR is more likely. The DPF and urea are fairly standard diesel emission controls that work without issue.

No sorry I mean the rest of the world F30 335d which was released months ago here, 313hp xdrive twin turbo diesel.

No sign of any reviews, yet the Alpina D3 has been reviewed by several mags.
