JB4 Firmmware Update...Need Help

Guys,

I installed a JB4 stage 2 and have been getting a drivetrain malfuction if Im giving it moderate to heavy throttle around 2500 rpm. So I decided to get the cable from BMS to connect my laptop to my JB4. I did that, installed the JB4 software and attempted to update the firmware. The firmware will no update, each time it fails. When I disconnect my laptop from the JB4 I get a message saying that now my JB4 has no firmware and if I try to start my car Ill have problems. Did I use the wrong HEX file?

Second question, Can I remove the JB4 and go back to stock without any problems. This is such a PITA that its not worth it.

Thanks for you advice and help!!!

It's my understanding that for the 550i there is no "JB4 Stage2"....there is Burger Tuning Stage 1, Burger Tuning Stage 2, and a JB4 Beta. That might be the problem.

Yes, you can remove the piggyback tune and be back to stock fine.

Will you have to periodically update the firmware on the JB4 Beta as well?

Im not sure. I did end up having to update the firmware on my current unit but Stage 2 is no longer supported and does not have the functionality Im looking for which is why upgrading to the JB4 Beta is a must.

Anyone thinking about buying a used JB4 or any other tune....dont do it, Just buy a brand new tune, trying to save a few bucks isnt worth it.
