Good luck with sale. HK audio is 16 speakers, BTW. You never know, the extra 3 might just tempt someone.

Blooming time wasters! If you want to look at cars you can't afford to buy, go waste the dealers time

Good luck with the sale. Any outstanding finance or is it fully paid up?

Thanks. I tend to buy my cars on the PCP option so there's always a residual to settle when I sell them. Can be done within 20 mins so never been an issue. Why do you ask?

Well if it a PCP then it is not legally yours to sell!!

You are on a lease and it only becomes yours when you have paid the balloon payment.

Take it easy Jobs-worth! - Of course he can sell it. All the finance company want to know is if the settlement figure has been met. I sold a car to we buy any car, and they settled the finance - no problem. All above board, got a letter from BMW finance a week later saying everything had been all settled up. I've also sold a car privately and settled the finance on the same day of the sale in front of the buyer. Simple.

Did not say it was difficult, just explaining why the question was possibly asked

No you weren't. You were spouting drivel. Either looking for a bite or very much misinformed

Your T's & C's

*The optional final payment (together with an option to purchase fee) are payable at the end of the agreement if you decide to purchase the vehicle. We remain the owner of the vehicle during the agreement and we may become entitled to recover the vehicle if you do not keep up your repayments.
**If you part exchange the vehicle for a new BMW, any surplus in the vehicle’s part exchange value over the optional final payment (and option to purchase fee) can be used as a deposit towards a new BMW.
*** If the vehicle’s value is less than the optional final payment, you can hand it back to us without paying the optional final payment. However additional charges may be payable for both excess mileage (actual mileage higher than agreed contract mileage) and vehicle condition (using the standards set by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association BVRLA vehicle condition guide). If your agreement is regulated by the Consumer Credit Act, this contractual option will be in addition to your statutory right to end the agreement early.
Finance is subject to status and available to over 18s in the UK only. Guarantees and indemnities may be required. Advertised finance is provided by BMW Financial Services (GB) Limited, Summit ONE, Summit Avenue, Farnborough, Hampshire GU14 0FB.

Sorry mate,

It is not drivel and not misinformed and not trying to wind you up.

Private buyers are nervous and are checking out both the car and the seller.

If you are upfront about the PCP and explain how you are going to handle it then fine.

If you do not tell the the prospect ( and only when you are sure he/she is serious ) they will probably do an HPI check and find out anyway. Then they will think what else have I not been told and walk.

Then you have another "time waster" on your hands.

Best of luck with your sale and if you are not interested in feedback then fine.

At the risk of giving you oxygen.

You made a throw away comment that I could not 'legally' sell my car which nonsense.

Of course I can 'legally' sell it, providing, as it would be in this case, any outstanding finance is settled before or at the point of sale.

By your logic I assume you'd pay off your mortgage in full before advertising your house for sale?

You also confused a 'lease' agreement with a loan agreement, which are very different things.

Anyway, what point are you actually trying to make?

At the moment you're either trolling or just a bit of a clown.

You originally asked why Balster was querying about outstanding finance and I was trying to answer why it could be of a concern to some potential buyers..

Of course you can market your car and pay off the PCP immediately before you sell it to the new owner.

It just needs to explained to the prospect as they will not all have the same attitude to a car that is not free of any encumbrance at the time of sale.

Antway let's leave it there and good luck again.

Oh god, I've started a war of biblical proportions! The reason I asked was simple, like OP I've got mine on PCP and I was made an offer by Audi (against a new S8) whereby Audi would pay off the car and leave me with approx £4.5k surplus in the car to put towards the S8. So the question was around economics and how much surplus the OP had to put towards a new car..or take the 50/50 route.

Cheers.
