F10 550i mpg update

Just thought I would drop an update on my 550's total mpg thus far.

4389 miles / 17.9 mpg

Really kind of surprised, I am very easy on the car around town but really drop the hammer on the autobahn, I don't monitor gas usage or how much it costs me, if I were to do that, I wouldn't have bought the 550, but nevertheless, am quite pleased with its efficiency.

Useful post, thanks!

So your consumption is around 13 liters per 100km?
That is very good I think - I used to run 13-15liters on my 3.0 A4 Audi...

Wow, almost brings a tear to my eye, that 550i, my first , is no longer mine. Your reply reminds me that when I have similar mileage I should check and see if my replacement 550i gets the same efficiency.

Mine has given 27 MPG over 3500 miles here in the UK, which is fab to me.
Mostly longish journeys and mainly out of town.
Boot down where possible.
I just can not see any other V8 matching it.

Your right on that John, that is incredible figures. Leads me to believe that the only reason why I dont get those numbers is because of my sustained 130-150mph run.

I have one business trip I take once a month that is virtual unrestricted for 90% of the 100 km's, one of my favorite strips of road.

I have to say, given as fast as I do drive mine, 17mpg is pretty incredible in its own.

OH sh*t, 28mpg is almost too good to be true. Are we talking the same gallons here? (I am using google to recalculate to liters per 100kms)
Or maybe it has got something to do with all the radars in the UK ?

I have read many of Johns post, especially when it comes to fuel, I think John does strive to increase his thirsty V8's efficiency. I could never hit those figures, even if I had speed limits to help me!

And Delven, can you clarify what is "pull to the right" ?

Can you tell me what you mean by "boot down where possible?"

Does this have something to do with your trunk?

NO "Boot Down" is getting your throttle WIDE open.

UK Gallons are 1.2 * US Gallons.
In US Gallons it will be 23MPG average, I have bettered that by 2/3MPG.

My 1st F10 550i had a significant pulling to the right then after service the left then after service the right, see where this is going? lol

Basically, they couldnt get my F10 to drive in a straight line so through agreeable terms I now have a new one in my driveway that drives straight as an arrow! Plus I was able to add the Msport and a few options I realized I wanted but didnt get first time around. Was a win for me. I understand 100% the frustrations that many have with the pulling issue, I was there.

I believe the pulling issue is like any other very complex car that is initially released, we buy these cars, in my case and others, preorder, its a risk.
