Cool bro, I'm glad im not alone. I too have a small amount of buyers remorse as well, besides the DME my car has Dynamic handling package which doesn't allow coil overs and I'm stuck with electronic shocks that shut the car down if one fails. Pretty lame if you ask me, when looking for a new hot rod to replace my 650whp ws6 I looked at c63 amg's but couldn't get over the Honda accord like dash and center console(for the money). My other choices were a Pontiac g8, 2010 zr1 or a panamara gts. I'm thinking to get an m5 when my warranty expires I could swap everything from the 550 over to the m5 and not start over with exterior mods. Only thing is I don't like the m5 front end, if I get one I'm putting the m sport front end on it plus I'll prolly put 550i emblems too. That would be an odd swap and I would prolly be the only one to ever do it. I could careless about m5 status since it's still a heavy pig and would get smoked by anything with better power on a lighter platform.

I'm in communication with GSR Technik right now, and I believe they might have finally developed a tune that works with the N63 (not tu) DME this time, not a press-flash tune like DINAN.

I'll keep you all updated

747flyboy has upgraded Alpina turbos on his 550i. I believe his is non-TU with a jb stage 2 as a tune. Waiting for his dyno.

They don't. For some reason they think that the pre-TU 550s were made with more than one DME, and that there was only one year of them that is non-tuneable. I sent them a pic of my DME and was told that I had one of the rare DMEs that can't be tuned. The thing is though, I'm pretty darn sure all of the pre-TU 550s do have the same type of DME. So unfortunately we're still out of luck.

Greetings to all and a special apology to Black GT for not getting back to you.
Finally snuck in to Atlanta December 2 and part of do list was to Dyno at All Speed Motor in Peachtree City, GA. My good friend Tim Hanon (owner of the shop) was equally as excited and curious about the potential of the car until we found out DynoJet had a leaking pneumatic line. Parts were ordered but not in time for me to turn around back to Korea. I will be back in Georgia for the holidays and this a top priority.
For now I wish all of you a very Merry Holidays and Super Duper New Year

Yes I heard the same thing.

However, not all non-tu N63's are indeed the same. Reason I know this is GSR actually has their own N63 550i that they solely used for creating the tune (they actually work on the cars, not just computer only) and he sent me the actual dyno graphs from it.

We'll find out soon. Will keep you guys posted as always!

Waiting on that update, bro. Maybe you can let us know more information about which pre-TU cars can be tuned by these guys, if any at all.

I never remember saying 690TQ. I did originally believe the car made 580q due to the DINAN tune, until I later learned DINAN overestimates their numbers.

However, when I spoke to GSR that is what I was informed of.

Speaking of the Dinan tune for the N63 being overrated, has anybody ever taken before and after dyno numbers of it?

Dinan claims their Stage 2 software pumps out 494hp and 579lbs torque @ the crank. There's a youtube video of a BMS Stage 1, 550i spanking a Dinan Stage 2, 550i.

I was not referring to a TU engine, which can be tuned.

The fact that it can be tuned has nothing to do with the compression ratio but rather the DME. Just pointing out that the S63tu doesn't make more power than the N63tu "because it can handle more boost due to lower compression."

Thanks for clearing that up.

Still waiting on that info, broseph! The guy I spoke with at GSR was Bobby and he was very quick about getting back to me.
