I would absolutely do that except the dealership already has my car and is already working on it

I'm afraid I wasn't clear enough. I meant BMWNA when I said "them". Another, less agressive solution would be to contact the owner of the dealership. I previously had a 528 non-msport Xdrive and it had a load of issues. This lead to me getting very upset and annoyed about all of the trips back and forth from the dealership. Eventually, I wanted to trade cars. I took this up with the dealer and they refused to put me in a new car unless I would pay some of the difference. I contacted the owner (The dealer is family owned which is a +) and I threatened (respectfully but still aggressively) to contact BMWNA. Instead they told me that for $10k I could trade from my practically base 528i to a fully loaded 535i Msport (MSRP from 65k to 80k in CAN). I took the offer and have had no further issues with it.

However, if you are displeased with the dealer's service and it has a bad reputation (e.g. the dealer that Alan I. was mentioning), don't hesitate to go to BMWNA. Put them back in their place and hopefully take your business elsewhere.

Good luck OP!

There's a lot of faith placed in BMWNA to resolve issues customers have with dealers. Unfortunately, there's no basis for that. BMWNA's customers are the dealers. It's the dealers that can count on BMWNA's support.

Not true about BMWNA from my personal experience and others i've read here. They have always taken care of me whenever I needed to escalate any issues up to them.

My 2013 535 was stuck at my dealer because parts were on back order for 2+months. BMWNA gave me the OK to swap into my now 2014 550 while my dealer covered most of the cost difference.

Have alittle faith in them. They are certainly your BEST option when compared to the dealer.

Alan

After this experience, as much as I hate to say it, I think that Mercedes E class is looking like a potential future candidate 😣

For the cost of repair that you have been quoted I would certainly have had them show me where the blockage was, how that much water did so much damage, where the drain that was clogged is located, demonstrate how it is user serviceable, etc.

Any update?

Hey guys sorry I haven't been able to update. After a week or so of calling BMWNA and back and forth with my dealership I am pleased to say that the dealership has agreed to cover the costs because I am their customer and genuinely did not know of any drainage plug. Has anyone been able to confirm where the plug is? I'll be sure to check it from now on that's for sure lol. I pick my baby back up on Wednesday God's willing...can't wait

You should be asking that question of your dealer, as I mentioned in an earlier post.

I have to recommend that you visit another dealership for service. Water damage is a real touchy issue with some SA's. If you keep hitting brick walls you may have to involve your auto insurance company in order to repair the damages. Just make sure you use a Center of Excellence rated dealership for your repairs!

Good luck...

Remember to press them for info - they were quoting you a lot of damage repair cost - where was it plugged? What was it plugged with? where is the drain at the top? How am I supposed to clear that? etc.

Like others, I am interested in hearing their explanation - as well as getting educated on the topic.

Okay so I got the car back finally, didn't have to pay. However they did try to get me to pay $700 for the underbody panel and "a few bolts and nuts" because a small piece broken off during the winter when I ran over a snow pile. I passed. Are those panels really that much money???
