Bugs INSIDE rear tailight!
So I'm doing a few things around the garage... I glance over at my F10 and notice two dead bugs inside my left rear taillight. They are stuck inside the lower part of the inner light on the trunk.
Has anyone ever encountered this?! Wouldn't it make sense that water would be able to get inside too? Im confused!!!!!! |

I'd check to see that the tail light assembly is fully sealed. I haven't had the F10 long, but I do know on previous BMWs that the assembly came apart from inside the trunk to access the bulbs and such. Once apart, one of my previous BMWs always suffered from a semi-loose assembly. Although I never had a problem with bugs getting in them, I could clearly imagine enough leeway for it to occur.
On a related note, I'd also check to make sure you don't have a bug problem. One is odd, two might concern me, and anything more than two would start to look damning. What kind of bugs were they? I know some folks who had a Volvo that ended up becoming home to a colony of Ants - made their home in a water seepage drain on the car and found their way into the cabin. Just as bugs can invade a house, I guess they can do the same with a car... albeit more rare.

UPDATE: I just got back from the dealership… after my SA and the shop foreman looked at the light they said its covered and they will replace.
NOW my question is: Will the portion that is being replaced (driver side inner light on the trunk) be brighter than the rest of the lights? Im thinking no since they are LED? Anyone ever replaced a single section of an F10 rear light housing? |
