Hey guys! Im Tiffany with a bmw f10 in a dilemma..
Hey guys ive been lurking on here for the past couple of weeks but this is my first post! Here is the situation i have been given a 2011 528i by my father who has left the country and left me with this and is no longer in contact with me and ive been driving it fine for the past 4 months but cannot afford to keep it with my budget but also this is my first and only car i use for transporation to and from school ... its asking me to change brake pads and rotors and thats tottally out of my budget at the moment so should i sell it or leave it parked till i can scrape up the money for the repairs ? Need your advice guys.. also the miles are over 60k warranty is expired

Since it is out of warranty, find a small euro-centric shop to do it for less...can't see the rotors needing to be replaced at 60K....but they may have to. You could pop in the brake pads yourself if you're handy.
google "DIY F10 brake pad replacement" and see if anything comes up....there is also a DIY section lower here. How does it feel when braking? Do you have to push to the floor? Do you hear a screeching sound or a groan when you brake? Best of luck! |

I guess the computer is telling you its time.
On my car it tells me that I need to replace brakes in x miles. Guess that could be what has happened to you, just the system telling you its time. To be safe, take the wheels off and check the pads and rotors condition. Do you have a friend or family member who could assist you to do this if you dont know how? |

Tiffany if you are really who you say you are and the photo in your avatar is actually you, another member in your area will be chiming in to assist you in 5, 4, 3, 2......... :-) In all seriousness, I am sure another member on here that lives in your area could recommend a local independent mechanic that could do the work for you for much less than the dealer. New brakes is not a good reason to get rid of the car. Good luck!

j/k but honestly if it's too much car for you to afford maybe you should trade it in for something within your budget. However I think we're getting trolled because OP said 2011 528i but avatar says 2013 550 |

Checkout European auto source in Anahiem, CA.
They stock oem replacements. Otherwise, might need to downgrade to a 3 series. lol...
