I-Drive Control Knob Replacement

So my wife spilled her tea all over my I-Drive Control knob. So, now the click event is not working. The dealer wants over 1K to replace the knob. I have decided to purchase a replacement knob online and attempt to replace it myself. Has anyone replace the control or removed the center dash to access the control? From what I am reading, I will need to remove the driver and passenger seats.

I believe that I would pay the 1K. That thing looks like something only someone that
knows what are doing should mess with.........

Great news. I was able to resolve the issue with a few cans of compressed air and time. I inserted the straw from the compressed air can into the base of the knob and rotated the knob clockwise.

BMW idrive Controller Know 320i E90

hello,

I am new to this forum and really appreciate your help or any valuable advice you give me. I own a BMW 320 i E90 and have been having problem with my Idrive controller knob. The know responds to spinning and clicking left and right but does not respond to pushing down. My dealer says it will cost $1k to replace the knob and program and update the software. Any suggestions if I can try something that may make it work apart from taking it to a dealership.

thanks
