I just called my local dealer and asked about the service bulletin/recall and he asked for the last 7 digits of my vin and checked, turns out I have an affected vehicle and they made an appointment for next wedsnday to replace the fuel pump. My car has 54,000 miles on it and is out of bmws warranty. I'm happy that bmw is standing behind thier product, even if they didn't I purchased my own warranty from my loan provider so far they have not denied anything. This isn't my first time at the dealer 7 months ago they did the timing chain and vanos system service bulletin, they had my car for 1 month.

My build date is June 2011.

When you say fuel pump??

Are you referring to the replacement of High Pressure Fuel Pumps or the in tank fuel pump?

I am in NZ and have just replaced the 2 HPFP's but still the rough starting when engine warm remains. Only happens after leaving the car standing for 3 minutes and longer then takes 2-3 seconds to start and is a bit rough. (No errors in computer).

When I bought the car it had been sitting on the forecourt for approx 6 months prior and it had 17 kilometres of fuel left in the tank so pretty low. I wonder if the dealer started the car regularly to charge battery and since they left it to run with low level of fuel in tank it may have caused either dirty fuel or in tank fuel pump burning out.

Thoughts?
