Hello everybody! New to the forum. Ive been looking at posts regarding wheels for an f10 xdrive here on the forum, loads of posts... . Im looking for wheels. I understand the diameter thing, 245/35/20 fronts and 285/30/20 rear should be best for xdrive. I kind of understand the width of rims as well, for a square setup i should have 8,5 j with 245/35 all around and with a staggered setup i should have 9 fronts with 10 or 10.5 back. Here s where i m stuck and in need of your help if you wish to help me. I can t understant ET or offset, what s gonna work on my car, i m on stock suspension. If you could do me a walkthrough about ET and how it works and tell me if i ve got good the info above id appreciate a tonz . I m looking at some JR 23 for wheels but can t wrap my head around ET . Thank you

Hi
This is the definition of wheel offset:

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel.

It’s measured in millimeters, so ET30 means the distance from hub mounting surface to centerline is 30mm.

If the offset was ET40 instead, it means the centerline is 10mm further in compared to a ET30 wheel when the width is the same. So ET40 is 10mm more tucked in than ET30.
On the other hand ET20 would be 10mm more aggressive than ET30.

For 245 front tyres you can do an 8.5" wheel quite happily too.

Around 20-25mm offset for the front should be about right and for the rear around 30-35mm based on your tire widths.

I'm about to mount the same 245 and 285 setup as you with 20mm and 32mm offset wheels so if you can wait until Monday I can share those pictures, but there are plenty of other aftermarket wheels posts on here

Sure thing, i m currently in the research as well, it s quite a bit of cash anyhow so i wanna pick what s best looking and what fits best so there s no rush on my side,. I m eager to see your photos on monday! Id be curious to see some info on how your car will feel afterwards. From my understanding a square setup is best for handling, price and over all feel of the car but staggered is so sexy so that s what probably imma go for anyhow Thank you as well
