Updated my custom catch can. Not sure if I’m 100% satisfied but it’s better this way!

I actually got a black catch can in the mail with a stronger mounting bracket so that will be swapped out eventually after I cut the bracket down in size. I’m trying to make this thing look perfect.

I have a Burger MS OCC on the X5. It has an adapter piece that attaches and directs the line straight into the OCC. Any such option for the 5er?

No true kits for the 5er anymore. FTP used to sell a kit but it was pretty generic. My buddy has a Ross Racing catch can but is put together DIY and it deletes the entire PCV system.

You could try tucking it up here. The hoses look a bit kinked, might allow you to get straighter runs.

Installed the Nexsys B58 coil adapters today. Hot damn are they a tight fit. I had to remove the bolts holding the wiring "rail" down next to the coils so I could wiggle the rail around to get the requisite space for the coils. Luckily, engine cover and everything still properly fits, but it's going to make spark and coil changes a bit more tedious in the future. Hopefully the much better B58 coils will be worth it in the long run.

Doing a lot today. I decided to install my EKPM3 cooler from Arc Terminator. The install was very easy and relatively straightforward. Definitely on the list for best mods under $100.

Is the fan on as soon as the car is awake? I'd potentially look for a fuse where it's only on when accessory mode or engine is on.

It’s on an add a fuse that I have plugged into the rear power socket fuse on the rear fuse block. It’s on when the car wakes up and turns off 8 minute after the car is turned off.

I found the issue to be where the hoses cross. The factory run is very short, which causes the problem. I tried and tried to find a solution to the hose getting kinked, but gave up on the whole catch can idea.

It’s cooling the fuel pump control module. Sometimes they overheat and can leave you stranded. This is mostly a mod for people with aftermarket fuel pumps but I’m doing this now to get it out of the way.

Nobody really wants a writeup of an interior change .....the picture below would scare them away....

BTW, the whole interior and dash had to come out of the vehicle for the 4-zone mod...the stratification is different from the 2.5 zone climate control system.

I did NOT have to break open the A/C system....I just disassembled the 2.5 zone air distribution box, and rebuilt the 4-zone air distribution box up around the A/C evaporator....but I did have to disconnect the cabin heater radiator.

The wiring came from a donor vehicle (bought the whole harness and pulled out the wires I needed, which weren't much...most of the wires were between the front controller and the rear controller. It made it a plug-and-play Mod.

Coding was even easier....add 4NB (4-zone) to the vehicle order, and update the front controller IHKA (A95), the rear controller FKA (A39) and the Central Gateway Module (A51) via ESYS.

Although this looks intense, it was not....the whole interior and dashboard came out in less than 3 hours, and went back in an hour.....the hard part was buying all the pieces and tidbits required to make this a "FACTORY" install.

You want to do this in the same day....as the "left-over-screw" quantity grows proportional to the number of days you don't work on your project.

Don't forget this Mod for your F10 528/535 (F10 ///M5's already have this installed)

You do have to rearrange a few wires in the connector to make this work...can post in the "DYI Guide" forum if there is interest.

Swapped out the turbo oil outlet pipe today. It was a pain in the ass for xdrive. Took about two hours from start to finish.

Changing the valve cover today, also plan on cleaning the engine bay, installing the strut bar and replacing the tensioner, idler pulley and belt.

Carbon535i, do not skip replacing P/N 11377502022.

You can replace it even after you complete your work on your valve cover if you did not get this gasket.

This item almost never seals correctly, or fails shortly after valve cover R&R. When and if it fails to seal, it will cause more problems than what the part is worth ($11).
