Lowering M sports suspension...
I am considering the M sports suspension and the 312 20s on my next car.
But from the pictures i have seen on this site, i am not completely satisfied with the gap between wheels and arches. A small drop would be appropriate i think. But i am not really into coilovers. I have thought of ordering the M sports suspension and use its slightly stiffer shocks and anti-roll bars with a set of lowering springs from either Hartge or Ac Schnitzer? This would give me the 30mm drop needed. But would it function properly. |

Try the RD springs. From what I've seen and read on this forum they lower the car perfectly (not too low) and work well with Adaptive drive. Look up member Vinfast and see his pics. I will be doing this mod once my car comes in.

I plan to do the same thing. Do you know if this voids any warranty?

Pass on the M sport suspension and go with RD or H&R sports and save at least half on the price buying it from them. With the 550 go with RD because of the drop up front. See the post from forum member vinfast to see why.

I'm interested on M sport suspension as well. Does anyone has experience how much firmer the default Msport vs standard suspension?
What I'm trying to achieve is to have no more than 15mm lowering when settled at the least expense of comfort. Any advice welcome, thanks. |

I have ACS springs and so far I love the look and feel with the adaptive drive. ACS is 25mm drop, I had read from others that the 30mm drop was a bit much and for me I agreed. Between the parking garages in Europe / slightly stiffer ride and not jeopardizing warranty issues, I went with the ACS.

Thanks, I understand ACS and RD is the choice for subtle look in lowering. But on the road I live in, 15mm lower is the maximum I should go.
With that in mind, I think M sport spring damper set will give me what I'm looking for (+- 10mm). But wanted to know how much firmer (in %) the ride will be, based on using the same size of wheels. |

I am not sure if this is of much help but I have a 2011 535i with m sport with adaptive drive and all the suspension electronics. I just removed all of that and installed KW V3 coilovers and aside from having the adjustable dampening straight from BMW I actually like the ride better with the KW's.
Sport+ setting was nice but definitely no where near coilovers in terms of handling and ride quality. I rarely drove in comfort or normal but again that is my preference in terms of what I expect from my cars. I owned my car for 7 weeks now but I have around 4600 miles from driving around for meetings because of my work. |

Thanks Jaekeem for your info. That's a costy move from AD to KWs.
Anyone else would like to share your experience after driving both car with M sport suspension vs Standard Suspension? Or perhaps, anyone tried to use M sport springs on standard suspension? |

I ended up getting the M-Sport, mainly because they offered me a sweet deal on the car. Otherwise, I was planning on going with the RD based on vinfast's info. I can definitely feel the difference between the M-sport versus standard that I test drove, it's noticably better for performance. I can't comment on the RD or other mods, but M-sport is pretty nice. Just make sure if you do the other mods, it won't void your warranty.

That's a good point, the tires are actually different sizes from the M-sport (or sport) and the standard issues - I believe the standard comes with 18", and my M-sport has 19" (if the standard size is wrong, someone please correct me). It's hard to say, but I would guess the M-sport suspension and parts overall give about a 10-15% firmer ride, more noticable at speed and with any kind of maneuvering, of course. Overall, as long as you have the dynamic handling/sport package it's not bad at all. M-Sport just has that nice, tight feel.

Thanks, good to know.
Actually is not performance/handling gain that I'm looking for from an M suspension, it is the 10-15 mm lowering . I'm not into turning this executive sedan to a boy racer car. No offense to anyone, I'm the one who's getting older . When I was in my 20's, I even cut an H&R spring on my NSX in order to make it lower |
