Headlight lense scratches/chips easily?

I was driving my new car (6000km) on a moutain pass and a snow plow sent a lump of gravel and rocks on my car. After assesing the damage which included creaked windshield, multiple paint chips and such, I found one of the worst areas was the headlights. It seems like they have chipped fairly easily with a number of tiny pock marks and have almost a haze on them. Has this haze happened to anyone else? My insurance company will cover it all but due to the cost of the repair I will have a permanent declaration for damage on my car. This declaration will impact future resale.

That's why putting clear bra on is a good idea. Especially if you drive lots of highway

I learned my lesson from my past cars. I find salt in the winter months really do lots of damage to the headlight cover (like sandblasting thus resulting 'pitting'). The haze is most likely resulted from exposure to UV rays over the course. The clear bra helps a bit in reducing the exposure and just prolong the hazing effect over time.

Look for Ventureshield. Just google the 'Ventureshield headlight' or 'Ventureshield paint protection film'. It's a clear thin plastic film (something like a window tint film) applied to the entire headlight (wrapped).

Here in Toronto. It cost $40 per headlight.

Guys, I am in the same boat. I have a 550i M and after a normal ride to work the other day, I found out that my headlights are chipped. The dealer says they go for $1,500 a piece! Any way to wax or otherwise smooth down the chipped plastic? What do you recommend? I appreciate the help.

If it's rock-chipped, it's going to be difficult to diy, you may have to get a professional car detailer to fix it for you. I would try this route first.

Has anyone used the X-Pel headlight protection film system? Its about $48 for the DIY kit.

http://www.autoanything.com/lights/6...FQf0nAodpRIA6w

They have kits for the 2011 & 2012 F10 but not for 2013. Were there any changes to the headlights on the 2013? I'm thinking of getting this for my 2013 and giving it a try.

Anyone with any experience?

Thanks
