Talking 525d vs A6 3.0 TDI

After a HUGE excel document and months of consideration, our new company lease car for May next year is almost decided! Its between the BMW F10 525d SE and the Audi A6 3.0 TDI S Line. At the moment, the 525d is favorite but we are yet to test drive the A6. I should make it clear that the 3.0 TDI in the Audi is not the full fat one but the 204hp one. This means the BMW is more powerful and has less emissions. That means that the BMW goes down a tax bracket which is ace!! So here is a build comparison - PDF's attached. You may notice the BMW is lacking the Navi and this is for a very good reason. We get the Professional Multimedia package for free as this is an offer!!
This is a saving of over £2000. The BMW is looking most likely...

Might get some biased answers here at a BMW board

Personally, I'm not a fan of the new a6. Was pretty excited about it before I drove one. It's an ok car but the f10 IMO just blows it away. A6 didn't feel like a true luxury sport sedan.

You make a very compelling case for the F10 in your write up. I for one really don't like the looks of the new A6 but I really do like the looks of the F10. It also sounds like you have the F10 built quite nicely.

F10 gets my vote.

I actually wrote a full essay about them but then I thought I was rambling so deleted it all and just wrote what is above :P Yes, I think you will be seeing me more on the F10 board from now on

You're going through the same deliberations as I went through a few months ago, when changing from my end of lease 530i E60 to either a (originally 530?) F10 or an A6... Sounds like we may be using the same lease Co. as, like you, we get Pro-Media thrown in on the BMWs.

In the end the BMW won out both on tax, driving feel and features and, three weeks after delivery, I have no regrets whatsoever.

The thing that amazed me though, (after being firmly committed to 3 litre straight-sixs in both 330is and 530is before) is that I was persuaded (by colleagues who had gone down the same route) to change to a 520d, initially for significant tax savings and a nod to the environment. I thought I'd never see the day and I picked up the car with some trepidation, but am pleased to say (actually, amazed to say!) that I'm very pleased with it indeed and don't feel that I'm missing out much at all. I did include a few toys though... (here's a link to the spec and pics if I haven't completely glazed your eyes over with boredom LOL!)...

I should add that I'm only amazed about being happy with the smaller engine: I was always sure that the F10 was a very worthy successor to the E60 and nothing has changed my mind on that score!

Best of luck with your decision... I think you know that the answer is BMW!

The BMW wins hands down. The A6 looks exactly like the one it replaces.
