What are other 535xi owners getting?
27.2mpg average on my 535i (xdrive should reduce it only by 1-2mpg). 75% hwy commutes. If I'm careful on the highway, I can easily achieve 29-31mpg. Note: Kansas is fairly flat. I run 93 octane BP gas, as much as possible. Otherwise, I use 92 octane BP or Shell gas. My tires are Nitrogen filled, 18" base wheels (non-staggered).

I'm in KC also but with xdrive. I wonder if the M sport front end can reduce fuel economy?

Nice. It's good to run into another associate from BBQ City, USA. I would imagine the M body kit/spoiler create additional down force on your car (hwy speed) = less mpg. The wider tires + xDrive also reduce your mpg. Try using BP 92 or 93 Octane, to see if it helps (just a theory).

PS. I don't own a BP gas station. Just always liked the Amoco fuel since my Honda racing days.

Now just pass 15,600 mi.

Before chip-turning, I got 25.1 MPG for 100% in city, 39.2 MPG for 100% hwy.
After chip-turning, I got 21 MPG for 100% in city, 34.4 MPG for 100% hwy.

Using ethanol-free 92 octane gas!

That's fantastic! I get 19 mpg mixed driving and 26 mpg highway with the same vehicle. I can't believe that eliminating ethanol improves it that much. There is nothing but 10% ethanol available around me.

24.6 average mpg in suburban stop and go driving. Rises higher on highway travel. It is amazing to me that an all wheel drive, six cylinder, turbo charged, performance car averages 24.6 mpg in cold New England in the winter! (Mileage goes up in the summer.)

Same here. About 13 l/100km (18MPG) in aggressive city driving in winter. I think the number will stay at 12 l/100km (20MPG) in the summer (cold winter start-up always uses more gas, last Fall my mpg was a bit better I believe).

I use this app to track my mileage, kills a lot of time at the pump too.... The URL below the pic (logmympg.com).

I choose RaceChip from Germany with a good deal. It prevents the low speed turbo lag and makes engine running smoothly. Also it increases horsepower and torque.

How's the racechip performance? Have you encountered any issues, Errors or malfunctions? I'm trying to gather more feedback on this tune as I noticed everyone else is running JB4 Stage 2.

Thanks.

Interesting point.

I find that sport mode RPM's are clearly higher than "normal" RPM. However, going back to a Car & Driver article from the 1990s (I think), you can actually get better gas mileage if you rev the engine and make quick shifts - getting to your intended cruising speed faster - rather than slowly working your way up.

Dunno if that has any relevance.

My mileage has varied between 20 and 23 but hasn't dropped below. Much better than my previous Acura RL (17 MPG), Acura RDX (18.5 MPG), Nissan GT-R (15 MPG), and current Acura MDX (14.4 MPG... ugh).
Damn...my 08 MDX gives me 19.1 mpg...50-50 use

I can get up to 30mpg if it was highway driving, but I'm mostly in stop and go traffic and it averages around 15-17mpg...

How do you guys have such high mpgs?

Mine has 15mpg 40 hwy/60 city driving. I don't even drive that agressive. Dunno what the problem is, but the dealer keeps telling me its normal. I am tankin 102 octane (aral). It's almost equal to race fuel (the best).

Last I checked I was averaging around 25mpg, not much traffic here but also not conducive to spirited driving. Mines a 535dx with about 8k miles
