Another tint question
Just picked up my 550 m sport. I would like to tint my windows but at night when other cars are shinning their lights into my mirrors, the auto dimming function has the mirrors pretty dark. It is already hard to see what kind of cars are behind me at night with no tint. Cannot differentiate between CHP and other cars.
Question is, if I tint my windows will the auto dimming compensate and provide less dimming due to the tint blocking the light intensity, or will my mirrors get even darker? Any of you guys with tinted windows have problems seeing who is behind you? Is the auto dimming function adjustable? Don't want to get cheap and cover up the sensor. |

If you have good quality tint film, you should not have any problems. I've had multiple cars with LLUMAR metal and ceramic based films and have never had any issues with the auto dimming features.

The amount of dimming is proportional to the brightness of the light hitting the sensor at the top of the mirror. If the light from behind is diminished by the tint, the mirror should dim less.

Lucky you my friend. Since you live in SFlo, can you please recommend a good installer for window tinting and clear-bra? What do you think of "Tint World" on W. Commercial Blvd.? Thanks. |

After tiniting windows I have never seen the mirrors darken on any car I have owned. My f10 has 35% with no issues.

@AME: My wife went to Tint World in Boca. It's a francise so one time she had a good experience and one time not so much.
I took mine to Prestige Cars, Inc. They came out perfect. He laser cuts everything. Guy there has been tinting for 30 years. |

I dun have any problems with my tint either, the mirror will only dim the light to certain stage and it will remain there. If the car behind you with a brighter light, then it will dim more. So, no matter what kind percentage of darkness of the tint that your getting, it won't affect the view at night.
