My first 5 :)

Added new pics!

I wanted to introduce myself to the F10 forums...

I am Steve, a total car nut and previous addict of VW. I have owned about 20 VW's since I was 16 until 2009. I took the leap to BMW in 2009 and got a 2009 335i xDrive. 16 months later, traded it in for a 2011 335i coupe, replaced my second car (a Boxster) with a 2009 328i and have now just finalized a deal on a 2012 535i xDrive M-Sport. Alpine White on Black Dakota leather. Options are: Executive Package, M-Sport Package, BMW Apps and am getting a 20% 3M tint done. Interior trim is the aluminum hex which I believe is standard on the M Sport. Anyways, looks hot!

I pick up the car Saturday morning and will probably not sleep until then. I asked the detailer to NOT detail the car. Just hand wash it and pull it into a bay. I will go on Saturday and put on a coat of sealant and wax. I am very picky about car care products and how they are applied.... If you want it done right, do it yourself I have also asked them not to drill the front plate on either. I had the salesguy slap a big sheet of paper on the grill with a clear note to not drill the plate bracket on.

It turns out by JB Stage 1 tune I had on the 335 will work in this car since it is also an N55 so I am thrilled about that. Also the wheels I bought for my 335 for winter will fit, just need new tires. They are silver Rial Salerno's, 18x8 The tires are new so I will swap them onto my 328i for winter and pick up a new set of tires for the 535.

One thing I am not too excited about is that the car comes with All Season tires, Goodyear. The dealer tried to see if anything else on the lot has the same sized tires but summers and no luck. We scoured everything. I hope they dont disappoint aside from the fact that they are run flats.

Thanks to Paul Scheib at Performance BMW in St Catharines for the best service and deal around

I have attached some iPhone pics I took when I was out on the test drive.

Following the detailing on Saturday I will get some SLR quality pics and get those posted.

And here is my coupe going away...

Congrats on your new ride! Very nice. Don't mean to hijack, but how to you like the Rial Salerno wheels you have for a winter set-up? I'm considering that exact same wheel for my F10 535xi Sport. What tires do you run? Aren't studs outlawed in Canada? Thanks in advance, for your thoughts.

The wheels are great. Solid quality vs any reps out there. Tires are Dunlop winter sport 3D.
The style of the Salernos is simple yet agressive for what it is. With a 30 offset they will actually be a perfect for for the F10.

Welcome!

Seems to be a lot of VW/BMW crossovers. In my case, it was the other way: after three BMWs, I added a GTI as a second car. At the time, I was driving a 2000 E39 540i/6. After I replaced the 540i with an M5, I upgraded to a 2003 GTI. (That meant getting a 6-speed instead of 5, and 24-valve head instead of 12.) The GTIs were fun to drive and nicely appointed, too. Nice enough that I could get out of the M5, hop into the GTI, and enjoy the drive. That's pretty good for a $20k car.

I just drove from Toronto to Ottawa and then to Montreal today. Decided to drive vs fly as I have a couple of meetings for work. What a spectacular drive!!! I can't believe what a jump it is going from an E92 to an F10

I am absolutely loving the car. Solid ride, smooth, great power, amazing sound system, comfort seats are out of this world !

I have pile of pics from when I picked the car up yesterday. I will probably post them up Tuesday when I get back home.

Agree on the VW.... For a 20-30k car you get a lot. But after getting the 535 msport with exec package, there is NO turning back

An AW M Sport is always a good looking choice.

I have just uploaded some pics that were taken at the delivery.

I had asked the dealer to hand wash the car and leave it for me to prep...

I clayed the car, which was actually quite dirty considering it is brand new. Once the clay was done, I applied a coat of Menzerna Sealant followed by Swissvax Blauweiss. The color is so deep... the surface is like glass. The finish is absolutely flawless so I hope I can keep the swirls off for as long as possible. I never use automated washed and am methodical when I wash the car, so I am being quite optimistic.

Another fellow Torontonian bimmer. Hope to catch you around the GTA.

As for GY RF, ditch them and get better peformance tires.

I definitely plan on swapping them out. I tried to get the dealer to switch them out but no other car had that size in a different make of tire. I would have went with RF's by Pirelli, Michelin, etc.. especially if they were a dedicated summer.

Most bmw dealers will not switch out the rf for you, it's simply because of liablity & warranty issue.

I did the switch on my own to Michelin PSS. Happy with the tires but it took about 1000km+ to break them in.

I actually want to keep the RF... just dont want AS Goodyear.

Since you ditched the runflats, do you have a mobility kit to repair a tire if you have a flat?
