Linguistically challenged

So I'm trying to figure out how to get the cost of the inside lock on my door and I can't seem to be able to figure out what it's called. I'm referring to the little inside door lock thingie next to the window that goes int when its locked and pops out when the door is unlocked. I looked at the left passenger door yesterday and noticed that the plastic cover is now gone and there is a small metal rod sticking out of the hole. I suspect my son probably took care of it but I don't even know where to start looking for a replacement. Anyone know what it's called?

It's called a door lock plunger sometimes.

BMW parts call it a pin. So you could say the door pin which shows whether the door is (un)locked.

Thanks guys. raleedy, your link is not showing because it's probably from a post page. Do you have the part number?

Thanks Valery. I think the part I'm actually looking for is 15 but this is great.

Well, OK: in that case it is "operating rod" that is also shown together with the pin:
07 LEFT OPERATING ROD 51227175717
07 RIGHT OPERATING ROD 51227175718

Sorry for misunderstanding you first, now it looks more clear.

Weird. I'm not sure why that shows the rod with the pin and the pin by itself. In any event, I can see the rod sticking out of the hole so I went ahead and ordered just the pin. Hopefully, I don't need to get the rod itself replaced.

Garage List
I like to call it a lock mole because it hides in a hole and reappears sometimes, when all is quiet

Dang it. I think you were right, Valery.BMW. I ordered the pin and it looks like it's something completely unrelated. Now I have to probably order the entire rod and see if I can replace just the tip. Otherwise, I may have to replace the entire rod. Too bad they don't see the button/tip/pin/lock mole by itself

Which I'm guessing is a different pin from the item I ordered...
