Cpo 2016 M4?
I was at the dealer and they have a 2016 CPO elite M4 with 8400 miles on it. Some guy got a divorce and sold it back to the dealer. So they let my take it home for the weekend and I have to say this car is so fun to drive. Is it 67,000 dollars fun? I am almost at a coin flip decision on keeping my 550i "which their salesmen are already fighting for my car" or getting this sweet M4.

Depends what your needs are, the M4 can be a monster if done right, but so can the 550.
In my opinion, 4 doors beats 2 any day of the week. But that's based of my needs. |

Also this M4 does not have adjustable suspension option and is a rough ride, the handling is amazing because no EPS.

I considered an m3 before buying my 550i
as the m3 is more similar in size to my old e39 540i. However with the crappy roads here and my turning 40 i was not to thrilled with the harsher ride of the m3, it was a beast of a car, and handled great!! In the end i'm glad i ended up with the 550i. as it works best for my needs.... |

I traded in my pretty much fully loaded M4 vert for a loaded 550i. M4 is fast, handles like a beast, very fun to drive, and it gets lots of attention. However, you WILL miss the ride comfort and quality of the 5 series if you switch. The 5 is definitely a better built and a more practical car. The power 550i produces feel almost the same as M4. Car is heavier obviously, dones't feel as agile. I do miss the DCT though. The ZF 8-speed sport auto feels sluggish after getting used to DCT. I think next car will be an M5

I'll be selling my '12 550xi for M4 soon. It's hard to say bye to a modded car though. 550 has everything I need and how I like it, but the LCI M3/M4 is just what I need these days. I test drove it multiple times and it's a great car, especially for Florida.

Well I think you guys are right I am going to keep the 550i. I will most likely regret getting the M4 after a couple weeks because of the ride quality and getting a couple tickets. The 550i is fast enough and handles great I just hope BMW redesigns the EPS or gets rid of it in the G30. Thanks for all the replies I will be giving the M4 back in a couple hours and will not regret it.

I tested a few M3's and M4's and they are wonderful cars. Like driving a video game!!!! Great fun but passed on it for many reasons.

I myself am a huge 5er fan... Love my 550. I've always liked the 4 door sport saloon. I believe its a BMW hallmark of practical cars that perform above their belt.
BUT, I'd say the F10 will depreciate faster than a M car.... so if you haven't considered that, maybe it may be a factor. |

My decision would be based on having a baby transporter or not. We have a baby so my wife and I, both, need 4 door cars for the daycare drop-off and pick-up. If I didn't have kids or if they were out of the house, I'd go M4 for sure, plus it'd satisfy my mid-life crisis. Also, if your 550 is almost paid off, it's always nice to not have a car payment.

i took a look at an M4 last year when i thought about trading my 5er in and tho the M4 is pretty sweet it just felt like going back to a small compact car again . my 5er spoiled me with room, luxury and performance

Head says 550, "heart" says M4.
550 is a girl that your mom and boss will like, but is no stranger to a wild party. M4 is ... well you get the idea. All depends on your finances and your personal needs. For me personally, 550 suits my needs perfectly, no doubt at all (well 535 to be exact in my case). |

5er for a DD and M4 for weekend fun.
My M3 ZCP had 5K miles when I sold it after 3 years of ownership. She was a garage queen and nothing but a weekend sunny day car. But between the M4 and 5er, I would take the M4 and I am much older than most of you. Don't be sounding like a grandpa at the age of 38……

No... I think you're about dead on for a 5er owner... Same age as you!

Sadly, while I love the M3/M4, being 6'4" and having kids means that those cars won't be in the cards for me until the kids are off to college. No way a person with legs could sit behind me in an M3/M4 and that is where it would fail my needs. Now, the M5 or M6 Gran Coupe............................................. ..........
