iDrive software update

Hello guys,
I'm trying to update iDrive firmware with from USB stick from USB port located in box in front of passenger (USB formatted to FAT32 and file UPD01008.bin is located directly on root), but in vehicle setting is not visible any option for update.
Is this option available only when valid update file is recognized on external storage?

I think that is a "cell phone" update only...

The update from the website is for communication and media. As soon as you plug in flash drive, there should be popup on idrive head-unit screen asking if you wish to update.

If this does not occur, you can still access the menu to check version and update even without flash drive plugged into center console.

Thanks guys.
Update notes are available here:
http://www.bmw.com/_common/shared/ow...D01008_ENG.pdf

I was trying ones more update last weekend and actually when I plug USB with this file on root car is not doing anything (I tested both USB ports presented in car).
May I ask how can I check current version iDrive installed? I was looking in iDrive menu but I didn't find any information there.

What is your car's build date? The very early F10's do not have access to the Bluetooth and Media software information nor access to update them.

So does this mean that early f10 cannot update via USB and cannot use Bluetooth with their phone?

Early ones cannot update via usb, but can use bluetooth with phone if 6NH, 6NK, or 6NS present.
