F11 550i

This is the first time I see an F11 550i. Simply sick, very rear to see it on European roads where almost all the F11 are d and mainly 520.

Spotted in the Königsallee, D-Dorf, right? One of the best places in Europe to see nice rides.

Very rare indeed, awesome wagon.

Question for European drivers based on my recent trip to Germany.
Why do most cars on the road don't have model badges on them, BMWs Audis Mercs VWs, 98% of all cars don't have model badges on them at all. Why? do they come like that from factory?

Cause it's an option (and a free one!) when ordering the car. In Europe we have those long lists of options and this one is particularly popular.

If you ask why people tick that option so often, you'd get different responses, but more or less the most common is the car looks more beautiful without the badge. I don't have a model designation badge for the same reason on the back of my F10, whereas I kept my badge proudly on my E91.

I think a lot of people are also trying to hide they're driving a 520d or an E200 CDI nowadays, especially when you see how many of those are company cars in Europe and how hard it is for a guy that doesn't know BMW to differentiate a 520d from anything other than an M5, 550i and 535i/d.

I'm thinking of getting a 550 but wondering if it actually looks different from a 535? If so, how would one distinguishes (assuming the badge was removed)?

I don't want to get something that is too showy (thus no M5 as it is immediately visible)..

Badges are butt-ugly and for that reason, most people here will specify the car to come without a badge from the factory.

The most conspicuous thing on a 550i is the dual rectangular exhaust tips in the rear. Otherwise, its hard to tell the difference visually between models without the badge.

Beautiful and functional car. Wish they would bring it back to the states!
