iDrive/ Cluster/HUD issue
Hello all, for some reason I cannot figure out, my HUD becomes inoperable sometimes. The time on iDrive will stay the same, the time in the instrument cluster will keep fine and they do not match up. It can happen 15 mins after the car turns on or an hour after. When this happens, the button left of the steering wheel to turn HUD on or off doesn't work. The HUD menu also doesn't work when times don't match up. I will attach Bimmerlink codes/pictures.
I have tried leaving the battery off overnight, making sure all wires are plugged snug into the cluster and iDrive unit, and coding all modules to backups. Dealer had not idea what was going on. Spoke to a few people who did have this problem but theirs were resolved by checking wires which hasn't worked for me. I have looked absolutely everywhere and can't find a solution. My last guess would be I need a new battery? I got this 2014 535iX used with 80k miles and it currently has the original battery from 09/2013 production. The HUD is my favorite feature and it sucks when it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Last edited by drafty76; 02-10-2021 at 01:53 PM.. Reason: problem uploading pictures |

Op, I've noticed that your battery charge in bimmerlink was at 73%. When was the last time your battery was replaced? BMW's are very sensitive to battery degradation and wear, and as a result will cause multiple modules within the vehicle to not function correctly, or not function at all. If your vehicle is not producing the issues that were listed in your coding documents such as with your DME etc, then I would definitely look at the battery as being the first item you begin with as you start troubleshooting.

11.9V is too low. Max charged capacity is 80% on the battery so I don't think it is bad. If engine is on, alternator is most likely bad. Start with the obvious problem first. Once you have your voltage up to about 13.5-14.5V then see if you are still having those issues. I think the voltage is too low so your electronics are not working properly.
