Excellent job; painting is clearly the best way to go. I had my roof wrapped in black vinyl, but within a very short time and despite taking inordinate care, it was very soon covered in scratches. I ended up peeling it off and all I got for my trouble was blistered thumbs

Custom Exhaust
I had Buckhead Imports in Atlanta fabricate a custom exhaust which includes polished stainless piping with x-pipe (replaced the resonator) and high quality electronic cutouts/turn down dumps with a switch hidden in the storage area under headlight switch. The stock M Sport mufflers were left alone.
I usually spend a bunch of money on aftermarket mufflers, but on this car I figured why not have some fun and do something different...It's really nice having it adjustable, it's "Lexus like quiet" with the valves closed (x-pipe with factory mufflers is barely louder than stock, still super quiet) and it really roars and sounds aggressive with it open (x-pipe with no mufflers). I'm going to have the turn down tips/dumps painted/powdercoated black for a more aggressive look and help them blend into the shadows more and disappear under the car. |

JL Audio - 12W7 & HD1200
I had Car Tunes install a JLW7 and HD1200 amplifier. Really woke up the sound system and was a nice addition to the premium audio. I also had them open up a "vent" behind the rear center armrest area to let more sound into the cabin. The amp is hidden in the storage area near the battery under the trunk floor.
Also Craig at Butler Tire was able to download the specific discs needed to update the iDrive/Navigation to get rid of the "accept screen" and also enable playing DVD's in motion. For complete control of the subwoofer I had my custom stereo installer Matt Turner customize the cigarette lighter/AC adaptor cap between the two front cupholders. It is now a gain control knob for easy access to control the volume of the sub. |

Thanks! And thanks for the wheels and the smooth transaction...
The photos are decent but most of those are just iPhone photos...need to do a proper photo shoot! I'm loving the ACS springs too...rides great, much flatter and responsive handling...could be a tad lower but car looks lowered when you see it in person, and its not too low for comfy city driving...great setup...and it should be at just the right height where I can add the Vorsteiner front lip and still not scrape on driveways, dips, and speed humps near my house... |

hk328, Thanks I did think about painting the side mirrors black...I actually already did that on my E39 M5 which has black/silver theme...not sure if I'll do it on the 550 but maybe...and would look good if it gets more aggressive with front lip, trunk spoiler, rear diffuser, etc...

taylor, I've not heard the Hamann exhaust in person, but I think I did run across a sound clip or two. I could be wrong but I think Hamann exhaust is made by Supersprint or maybe they are just a similar design.
I'm very happy with my adjustable exhaust, best of both worlds...plus with the valves open its louder than a setup like...for example x-pipe with Eisenmann (because opened its x-pipe with no mufflers). Additionally there was a cost benefit since the whole setup ran $1,300 which is considerably less than a premium x-pipe and muffler combo like Superprint. |
