Yes you can adjust it with the radio volume button while the navi is saying somehting. Took me sometime to figure this out as there were no options in the settings.

This is a very good example of how we tend to complicate things. I had the same "problem" in my current E60, even went to the dealer to see what was wrong because I tried every single menu on iDrive but couldn't adjust the volume for the navigation. When the guy sat in the damn car and simply adjusted the volume button, I was left scratching my head.

So simple, yet a lot of us don't even think about that!

Always amazes me how these things are not shown to the owners.

The new car sales person here has to go through every feature of the car with the owner, showing him how to adjust things and how to work Idrive. Can take over a hour

Dont they do that in other countries ?

You are assuming that the SA knows something about the car! Most SAs that I've run into don't even know the basics and try to cover up that fact by spouting faleshoods.

Not the best method imo. it is the same in my E90. Sometimes i would be in the middle of lowering my radio volume and the nav would start talking causing me to lower its volume instead. Then the next set of directions that comes on is super low. It a pain that you have to time it perfect to get the volume back up again.

The ones here go through a training course for each model, so they do atleast know the basics.

Try this

Press the voice control button on the steering wheel
Say HELP
As the system plays back the options to you adjust the volume to your preference.

Easy

I guess I was one of the fortunate few whose Sales adviser sat in the car for an hour explaining me 90% of the features. He even sat there in my car and called Sirius at 10PM to activate my sat radio. They forgot to activate my NAV during prep, and the poor tech who is responsible for putting in the code came back from home to turn it on. I had a very good experience

I am hoping that the briefing they do at the BMW Welt is thorough enough to keep you there for at least an hour!

Yes, simple and and completely counter-intuitive. There should be an iDrive based settings to begin with.
