I was not talking so much the price of the vehicle, but rather having a "new" vehicle that is now two years old sit at the dealership without being sold.

Not a BMW dealer, a normal second hand car dealer as this was a used car.

Not entirely sure about this particular vehicle, but its quite common over here for these dealers to import cars from Germany.
Then just pay VAT, and don't pay the import tax before someone buys it.

The car in question was possibly bought in Germany for about 50.000 Euro two years ago.
They advertised the car around 150.000 euro 2 years ago. (exchange rate as of two years ago).
At the moment its on sale for 110.000 euro. (current exchange rate).

They are still just 50.000 out of the pocket so to say.
The import tax (which has not yet been paid) has been reduced 20% as the car has become 2 years older (10% drop every year). So that has to account for most of the price reduction.
Not saying they will get their 50.000 euros back, but doubt they will lose more than 5000 euros if the car sells at the current price.

Now if this was a car that the taxes was paid on, they are hurting pretty bad.
Though I guess they took a pretty good margin on the trade in so in that case the previous owner took a big hit.

I had a trade in offer on a -03 325ci I had in 2007, and the offer I got was almost 10.000 euros lower than what I sold the car for 3 months later.

Nothing.
I imported my e46 m3 from Germany myself back in -08

Cost me two plane tickets to Germany once I found the right car.
One round trip to have a look at it and sign the deal, one one way to pick up the car a week later.
Had to go with the dealer to get all the registration and export documents.
Drove the car home, on arrival I went through customs and got the car registered in Norway. I now had 2 days to pay the 25% VAT.
Paid it, went to the traffic authorities for a receival inspection, and they calculated the import tax, drove back to the toll office and paid that, back to the traffic authorities and got my registration and plates.

Then sent the customs documents to Germany and got the German 19% VAT back.

Takes time to do, but no problem to do it yourself.
A dealer will usually charge about 30-40.000 Nok to do the job. About 5000 euro.
Thing is, the tax is so high on cars that out of what I ended up paying for the car, the price in Germany was just 1/3. Rest was tax.
For what I ended up paying for a 4 year old M3, I could have bought a brand new one in Germany, and had money to spare.

Ive lowered the car on H&R, swapped to carbon emblems, carbon diffusor, carbon grille, sidelight covers and new exhaust.
So whats left now is changing the rotors, painting the calippers and getting some 21" wheels. Also have a carbon splitter that i need to put on.

Finally got the wheels from US. Niche Mach V 21". Also changed the rotors, and painted the calippers.

Car looks great .
For what it's worth, my favorite set of rims are Breytons, they just look great on that car, followed by your old ones, the ones you had on your white car, then Niche.
