400hp N55

Hello,

I'm trying to push to 400HP on an N55 F10.
I'm told that my stock turbo is able to handle that, however the question I have is whether or not it will be able to handle it reliably without going boom boom.
I'm upgrading both my HPFP and LPFP, front intercooler, charge pipe, hatless downpipes, and getting a nice little tune to top it all off. I have an upgraded intake, but that's as far as my car has been messed with so far.

Is there anything else I should watch out for when trying to push it to 400HP?
Is it even a good idea to try and get this much power out of this engine?

I haven’t dyno’d my car, but I’ve got a stage 2 flash tune using bm3 and all necessary supporting mods. It’s been tuned for about 70,000 miles and has a total of 171,000 miles. Still with the stock turbo. So far it’s been solid. Just my experience so far.

You should be right there wit that combo, burn that fuel flow you got wit some upgraded coils and a few boxes of colder plugs if you planning on a day at the dyno.and yes i think the platform is more than capable. hell you can spend another $3500 for another 125hp with a PS2 and be safe.

I have a JB4 (Map 5, auto-tune 12-17 PSI instead of Map 2 of 14.5 PSI), charge pipe, downpipe on our X1 35i (also N55, but 6 speed auto) and it "should be" close to 400 hp without all that extra stuff added. Also the 2nd X1 I've run this setup on for a combined 100k miles, no issues.

Do extra maintenance, realize some parts (plugs/coils/etc) don't last as long, call it a day.

For a reliable setup, I would highly recommend a turbo upgrade.
