Help Me Choose: iPhone 4S or 5
Lot of posts around and about this issue but none that really addresses it for me.
I'm driving a 2011 535xi. The pertinent options I have here are:
Negatives for the 5: My understanding is: iPhone 5 eliminates the analog video signal. That means two things to me: 1) Watching video (from iPhone) on iDrive is disabled. I am looking at doing DVD-in-motion and at some point in time 6NR BMW Apps. Seems pretty straightforward to me, you lose video capability. 2) Plugin feature is disabled. Not so clear to me. You lose the ability for the Apple device interface to display on iDrive and no Genius mixes. I've been reading the posts about the interface and Genius mixes issues. What I'm not clear about is, is that significant in the real world? Are they all that important? Is there a way to access them w/ the iPhone 5? Please feel free to comment on any other aspect of iPhone 4S vs 5. |

Love the 4S. I wish I kept it over my current GS3, save for me now finding its screen small. Go with the 5, it's simply a better phone.

At this point in time, I'd say go with the 4s. 5 is no longer "new" so the newer version is probably going to come out in a few months. Built quality for 5 is still shaky (seen a 5 bent to a slight "U" shape because my friend kept it in his back pocket and sat on it), so I think 4s is probably a safer choice.

However, what I've recently come up against (i.e. since 1 week ago when I acquired my new 530XD Touring) is that the Galaxy's won't allow internet access in the car... To the original poster (and assuming an iPhone from the Apple family is your only desire), if you need an iphone *now*, go with the 5 unless you really want to save money. Otherwise, wait for the 5S which will come out in a couple of months |

4s or 5 should be based on the availability of the 4 G network in your area, I am upgrading my 4 to 4s only as I don't see the 4G network any time soon around here West of Ireland, and also on the basis that with the 4s I do not need to upgrade my Media cradle in my car, I am also not too keen on the large screens, but then again I am office based hence not important for me, not the case if you constantly on the move.

Amazing how good and competitive the 4S still is after all this time.
