Any more feedback re: this pulling to the right issue? Has anyone had their problem fixed yet?

Mine's still in the shop, but (hopefully) I'll have it back by the end of this next week.

Yep... Mine's also pulling slightly to the right. It's not wearing me out though. I guess it's more pronounced with some owners. My case not so much.

Had my dealer check it out. He says this is already flagged by BMW global as a common provlem and he expects a recall soon.

Honestly, I'm more worried about the hesitation problem when acceleration from zero.

Mine is back in the shop this week for the 3rd time (for the pulling issue). They have already replaced tires, struts, etc. and this time they said they were doing the software update. After two days the show manager said he drove it yesterday and today and it's ready to pick up. They said the same thing the first two times so we'll see what happens when I pick it up later today. My pulling was prettey severe so hopefully it's fixed and not just "better"!

Excercise lemon law, get a new car. Shove the defective car back up BMW's @ss.

My 2011 535i also pulls to the right. It is currently at the dealer, they changed the software and that did not fix the problem, the technician is telling me they are going to change some parts in the steering column. This problem is very annoying, I have to keep holding unto the steering wheel, otherwise, I will drift to the right. I had the car for only one week.

I took my car to the dealer for the same problem pulling to the right (2011 535i), the were able to fix it. Now, it is just perfect. BMW is well aware of the problem, according to the tech, the software controls the gear ratio in the steering wheel, the dealers do not have this software yet, it is downloaded from Germany. They downloaded the software and it did not fix the problem, then the techs in Germany tweeked the ratio in the software and the second download fixed the problem. My car no longer pulls to the right. Problem fixed. The fact that the first software did not fix the problem indicates that each vehicle may require specific tweeking until BMW figure out a universal solution. I read some posters mentioned adjusting the struts by 10mm, my dealer did not do that, it was purely software issue.

Glad it worked but I'm a bit confused. How would changing the steering ratio correct the pull without applying a counter turn and therefore making 'wear' more of a problem? Strikes me that the mechanics of a car should have the car run straight as an arrow without any 'correction'.

It is good to know that there exists a solution, though.

Mine is in right now. Last week a BMW tech was there looking at the GMs car for the same issue, so I took mine in this week. Right now they are moving the struts, and then they'll redo the alignment. We'll see if it works. They didn't say anything about a software fix yet.

I have a 535i loaner with the standard steering and 250 miles on it, the sloppy feel when driving straight has definitely been fixed. The steering felt light years better than prior F10's with basic steering that were pre-September builds. Dramatically better. I drove a loaner 535i with 4000 miles on it last week and it had the sloppy when driving feel. Hopefully BMW has the sloppy feel issue fixed once and for all.

That is good news, really what we'd expect if the feedback was to 'firm it up', more central feel. Wonder if it will apply to all models, or whether steering will be model related, or even standard or m-sport type settings?

As I see it, no reason why they can't have a dealer 'software' option. You don't like the light steering, opt for the meatier 'dealer tweaked' option. I'd even suggest it could be configured into i-Drive, as the interface is there, so the user can choose the option, without needing DDC.

For anyone who has a September or later build, can you please confirm whether or not your car has this issue? Even if you notice a small drift to the right, could you let me know?

I will be test driving a September build next week so that I can compare it to my 'lemon.' Based on previous posts in this thread, the issue appears to be fixed on the September models...but I'd like a little more feedback if possible. Thanks!

I have a late September build 535xi that I just received and now have 300 miles on it. I have not seen any pulling to the right. I just took the car down to Boston and I even took my hands off the steering wheel for a while and the car tracked perfectly and stayed straight in the travel lane.

If "ANY" of my BMW's pulled one way or the other they would be returned ASAP as faulty end of story, I really am surprised at all these cars having faults, NONE of my BMW's have had a fault at all!!!.

In general if a car drifts to the right it's because it has a road crown which will cause the car to feel like it is pulling to the right. In the case for the early Build F10 5-series models there was a significant pull to the right which was not normal. In General though car will tend to drift slowly to the right but NOT Quickly.

However, if I'm wrong about that and they do have EPS - then yee-haw! That gives me hope about the week 44 (Nov.) build of my replacement F10.
Yes this is correct, xDrive Model 5-series come with Hydraulic Power steering where as the "i" models come with EPS. I have confirmed it. Trust me! The turns lock to lock and ratio 17.0:0 is still the same.

Took my 550i to the dealer today. It too pulls to the right. Was told the struts would need adjustment, the car re-aligned, and software upgraded. We'll see what happens... Will pick it up Monday. I'll keep the board posted on the outcome.

They have hydraulic steering as will the upcoming F30.

I have a September 535i loaner with base steering. It is much better and does not pull to the right. It is spot on.

Ok. I've driven a couple of August builds too and they had the pull as well. Most people have reported that cars built from September forward are fine.
