Full Windshield Tint with HUD

Has anyone tinted their full windshield that has heads up display? If so, does this affect information projected on the windshield?

Yes ... I have 50% tint on my 550xi and it works great ... as another had mentioned actually works better with the tint than without.

I had 2 layers of 60% tint on the windshield, Ceramic control would get really hot in summer time. Now I have 45% on the windshield (after replacement of windshield due to crack) and no problem from the HUD. funny thing is, after my windshield replacement because of crack, the HUD was little blurry. But for some reason, after getting the tint back on the new windshield, the blurry ness went away. now it's sharp as the day I picked up the car.

Just put 80% ceramic tint in our 435 with HUD and I feel like the image is now a little blurry. Not bad but annoying nun the less.

What brand film did you use? Is the tint fully-cured yet? How many days has it been since it was applied? I had a friend use second-tier film, and I felt the same with his.

I have Formula 1 Pinnacle on my cars. Great optical clarity, color-stable, and no blurry HUD!

Not sure of the brand. Has been in the car for about 10 days so I assume fully cured.

Steve,

I would say that was an adequate amount of time, especially if it was in the warmer months of the year. I would ask your installer what film he used ... also maybe have them redo with a better film.

Are you saying the entire view out of the windshield is a bit blurry ... or just the HUD display area?

Thought - is it possible the window tint guy got water on the HUD lens?

Good point ... didn't think of that, as my tint guy covers the dash and doors in plastic before beginning his work ... but absolutely a definite possibility!
