M-Sport LCI Impression in Person

I was at my local dealership today, they showed me an LCI 530d M-Sport. It was a beauty. It was built in July and had the new controller. The touch surface isn't as large and as obscure looking as the picture suggests. One thing I would suggest is getting the side debadged as it looks horrendous with the m-sport logo underneath where the side indicators were.. Looks like a cheap ad-on. Also I'm not a fan of the new M-Sport steering wheel in the 5, in a 6 series it's good but not the 5. The changes on the exterior are extremely subtle, even with me looking at it... The exclusive stitching looks absolutely fantastic!
If like me you have a MY2013 there is nothing to worry about, in the looks department as it isnt a major change.

Mocha Nappa is an awesome color ... just ordered my 14 550xi M-Sport w/ the Mocha.

Do the rear tail lamp turn indicators still run on LED? By the looks of it in the brochures, it looks as if it's using normal bulbs compared to the pre-lci model.

What did you think of the steering and suspension improvements? Did you get a chance to play with the new iDrive 4.2 or the new Nav? Any chance he let you try the launch control? (probably not

I know and agreed. Even if they are LED's they LOOK like halogens which is a real turnoff. The pre-LCI tail brake lights are unmistakably LED's.

I also agree that the new wheel just doesn't look right in the 5, IMO. It looks more playful and complex but that vibe doesn't fit the theme of the 5's very elegant interior as well as the simpler and smooth pre-LCI wheel. I'm sure it's great to use anyway.

I'm very curious to hear any steering change impressions VS the '13 models which already seemed to get steering updates from the earlier models.

I wasn't allowed to drive it as it was locked in a room at the back of the showroom and the battery was dead unfortunately.

The bigeest change in the LCI in my opinion is the LED headlight option, all the other changes are no big deal. The touch pad is a nice toy for about a week or so, thats about it. The new steering wheel looks like it belong in a Dodge, not a BMW.

Not a big fan of the new M steering wheel. It just looks so wrong on the car. By the way, I've also came across that the colours of the ambient lighting can be changed between amber and white.

Your dealership must be one of the firsts to have one. I passed BMW Parklane at the weekend and because they are BMW UK, I assumed they might have one in there but, not one that I could see. (They do have a orange M5 there if you're interested!)

They have that one the F30. The white is barely noticeable.

Also in a 1er sport there is ambient lighting

If like me you have a MY2013 there is nothing to worry about, in the looks department as it isnt a major change.

I see on my build sheet that there is:
3DZ - Without line designation outside listed as a n/c option

If you have that in the UK, it will save you time and dental floss.
