Carbon Fibre Auto transmission shifter

Decided to change the silver plastic trim on my auto shifter for the M Performance carbon fibre version.

I was looking for a DIY guide, but couldn't find on on here, so am posting this for future reference.

In the box

First thing you need to do is to pry off the cover to reveal the torx screw. It's only stuck on with tape.

Next is to remove the torx screw.
And the cover will just slip off.

The 'unlock' button also just slips off and is needs to be reused on the CF trim.

Attach the CF trim in place with the new 'P' button and 'unlock' and secure with the torx screw.

Once done and happy stick the 'M' cover in place.

There is a slight difference with the 'P' button as on the CF trim it is a lot more recessed and doesn't protrude as much as on the original trim.

I found a good website for parts in Europe
Sales after.eu

Reasonable price, much better than UK dealer prices.

Nice DIY. But how come the P button looks like it's pressed all the way down after the CF install, compared to the first pic with your OEM silver trim?

I don't know??

It works fine no problems.

I think if you look at the original trim it has a ' dip ' to allow the 'P' button to protrude.

Nice write up! I would have used something plastic to pry off the cover cause u can see the dent marks made. Maybe not So important since it's at the bottom but just an idea! The finished product Looks sweet!
